That big boat aground thread from a few days ago got me to thinking, whats the most infuriating, exasperating, irritating or dangerous thing you've seen other boaters do ?

Anchored in the lee of Alton Marina ( north of St Louis ) the wife and I were entertaining some folks on a quiet Saturday afternoon . It had to be 2014, maybe 2015 I know it was after the big drought. Anyway some joker in a big yellow Fountain type speed boat came flying through between us and shore. There were kids there in the water south of Russell Commons Park!

It was one of those times, you just wish you had a bazooka !

I was fishing a group of birds in a bay around 11 am. This was the first fish we found all day. A group of Orvis wannabees o drove there boat directly into the birds we were fishing. Stopped looked around then got back on plane.

We were so pissed we waited for him to find another group of birds and drove wide arse open through them. Trim down for what...

Anchored and fishing a spot. Another boat without a trolling motor trying to get in on the action drifting too close and cranking up because he realizes he is going to drift into you.

The volume of crab balls in Delacroix.

There is a big party cove where I boat at

This 50 yo fricker who thinks he is 25, parks his 3 level house boat in the middle of this, with one shitty anchor all the time. Pretty much drifts in about 160 degrees of his anchor line back and forth anytime there is a decent breeze. Pretty much clears about a football field of space because of it. That and his 70,000 watts of stereo equipment on top.

barry

He does fill the boat with women though, but there are an equal ammount of roided up bros on there as well

Any and all airboats that burn miles of flats trying to wrangle up some redfish.

Lucious "Papa Lou" Thibodaux used to run charters out of coco marina and grand isle back in the day, and he was known for always being able to put people on big fish consistently. Those other guys would try to follow him out and fish on top of him, and Papa Lou would ask nicely for them to back off once. If they didn't, then he would run circles around their boats, and yell catch them now, and run off to find another spot. zero fricks.

Rented a house on the lake and put out a few noodles to catch some catfish. Boats all damn day would run right over them, cut my line. They were about 15 feet from the swimming buoys in front of the house.

Got tired of retying line, put paracord on 3 noodles, I like to think I screwed someones day up.

The most dangerous thing I've ever seen was two bow fishing boats running with their shooting lights on. We could see them approaching but it was hard to tell which direction they were heading or how fast but we assumed they couldn't see our navigation lights. All of sudden they were ontop of us.

For as long as I live I will never forget the dude driving that boat was holding a can of orange Fanta.

Once I was heading through a pretty big lake to fish in the back of a bayou. Two guys are anchored off the mouth of the bayou so I stop more than 100 yards away and troll as far around them as possible to head into da bayou. While I'm trolling I hear ol'baw say "can you believe this guy messing up our fishing" or some such. I jerked up the trolling walked to the back of the boat and said "I was trying to be as courteous I could considering you are blocking off 10 miles of bayou" I cranked up the big motor and planed her out right next to them.

Felt good but probably lucky I didn't get shot.

Another time I'm red-fishing some grass ponds with my 5 year old in the boat (public ponds). Some teal guys fly by the pond I'm in with the mud motor wide open doing circles where they are about to make a blind less than 100 yards from me. Before I leave the pond, one of the dudes pulls out probably a 9mm and starts shooting at stingrays, his buddy warns him about us not far off I then move 300 yards or more away to a different pond and he starts shooting again and I hear the bullets zinging by I was scared to death for my 5 year old, I hollard as loud as I could in between shots. Now I'm glad the water was to shallow to get on a plain because I was planning on running over the idiots if I could catch them

Bay Round in Myrtle Grove. Four high school kids dumped all of their trash in the water. I wanted to crush them.

I never engage it arguments on the water though, too far if something would happen.
