I'm neither for nor against them, however I have 3 of them all on remote control.

Being a devils advocate, why not make a jerk string illegal as well?

They are designed to create movement and get a duck attention.

I see what you are getting at, but live decoys were legal at one time also. Same thing with unplugged guns, electronic callers, etc. Jerk strings have been in use a long long time unlike the mojo/fatal deduction/spinning plate/etc. Again the mojo really isn't very effective over water anymore. I hunted them over dry fields a couple of times and it was shocking and eye opening how much different the ducks acted towards them. Canada and the Northern US have to be hurting the juvenile populations and or educating birds like crazy. I can't be the only one who is noticing it gets harder and harder to get birds to work right and finish each year. I practically spend the entire second split in a layout with almost no calling and a few decoys now.

The first part is what I'm getting at. If you are only using one and you leave it on you are hurting yourself more than helping. Used this way they absolutely flare duck (well big ducks at least)

I've never used them in a dry field so I have no point of reference.

I will say, when they were 1st introduced in the mid 90s I bought one and it was really incredible how well they worked. Less than 10yrs later ducks would flare at the sight of one that was constantly on.

Same. I hop around the farm depending on where they are wanting to be. Take my marsh seat, post up in some tall grass and shoot them right in the tits. No decoy, no call.

I am not against stuffing a mojo teal off to the side in some bushes for certain scenarios, but those are rare.

I would argue that you have to ban them from OK/MO northward to have any real changes. It doesn't really matter if some topwater puts his 3 mallard machines and 5 mojo out in his rice field blind around Stuttgart Arkansas. Odds are that those same ducks he's trying to fool have either been killed to the north (juveniles) or are so educated that they won't work very well because they were in a flock of 1,000 that tried to decoy to a dry field spread with mojos in Canada or North Dakota a couple of times. Can't wait to hear stories of how people react in Bayou Meto this year though.

Because HUNTERS provide the motion.

I opposed AR's spinning-wing decoy ban in the past, and they've got it wrong again ....... in my opinion.

The issue should not be the "spinning wing", it should be the battery/motor power. We don't allow electronic calls, do we?

A hunter should be able to mimic whatever he wants as a decoy as long as he or the wind provides the power. If he wants to use a wind-operated spinner or hook a spinner up to bicycle and pedal it, or just "flag" like goose hunters do simulating a fluttering wing, a hunter should be able to do it. What I object to is the ever-growing array of electronic decoys, and I fully support banning them all nationwide.

But I ain't in charge, and when we asked hunters about prohibiting spinning wing decoys, only 13% agreed or strongly agreed in our 2010 hunter-opinion survey. Then in 2013 we asked about prohibiting them in the entire MS Flyway, and only 18% agreed or strongly agreed.
