I have pics of bayou Chene.

I don't think we are going to see a 2011 event this round. Or 73. Or 27.

83, maybe.

Could be wrong.

Got a lot of winter/spring weather ahead of us. Never has the water on all three rivers been this high this early in the season. It may not reach record levels in the immediate future but I believe we're in for a long flood season like never before.

Go back and look at my posts. Everything I have posted has been factual. There are many uninformed people on this thread. There are people that think they know. Someone posted that the Atch River in MC was higher this time than in 2011. It is not, as I stated. The Red is higher, but it is falling. The Mississippi is falling to the north. In 2011 the river was still rising when Morganza was opened. They have already reduced the peak in BR. They have pushed back the opening of the BC from Friday to Sat to now Sunday. The soft opening for Morganza was supposed to be Monday now its Tuesday. Sure it is early and additional rises may come this spring, but at this point this rise is not equal to 2011 or 1973.

2011 we were in the middle of a severe drought down here, that's the fact you keep overlooking. Whether the river crests at 10.1 or 9.9 isn't as important as the saturated levee systems potential for failure. We haven't even hit the wet season yet.

Haven't checked into this thread in a while. Wtf is going on with people Bunch of bickering hens in here. And on the OB no less

Thread needs to be anchored and a new one started without the pms additude. This one is practically useless for information.

Oh, and iirc, ScottieP actually makes a living by monitoring river levels and that type of shite. Was even on the news here a while back. Big ol boy.

I gave the heads up ( Leaked info that only a Few people had & with the potential of alienating relationships ). Your down playing & they haven't made a decision yet talk has put some people in a bind. It has been raining for the last 2 days & people are struggling to get equip, camps, & livestock out of the spillways path. You have potentially cost people money & put them in harms way. The reason I leaked the heads up is because I looked at the rain forcast & saw the window closing. You have cost some people a 24 hour dry window. FACT.

So you recommend leaving livestock, camps, & property in the spillway. I can't believe how reckless some people are with thier statements.

If anyone risked their investment based on an anonymous posters advice on a message board then they are due for a life lesson. I appreciate you posting info and the fact that you have first hand knowledge of the situation but you're getting a little dramatic.

Everyone knows that there are a some government workers/engineers in this thread. Some people look to these guys for guidance. They are passing on info that their supervisors tell them & the public. The public in Pointe Coupee will only get 72 hours notice, in very sloppy conditions, of the opening. If people wait & have problems (say a mechanical failure) their life & lively hood is put in harms way. So forgive me for being a lil dramatic.

you don't know how much water they'll let into the morganza spillway, and with the ground being saturated, the water won't soak up as much, if i was a betting man i'd say that that the Atch river in MC will be higher this time around after the gates have been open for a week than when they were open for a week from 2011

also coupled with the fact that my uncle crawfishes in the spillway, they usually are able to get back to their spots in late march/april.....they started in december this year

your whole tone is dismissive of this event, and i for one am glad youre not running a disaster preparation center, because you're the type of person that would possibly put people in harms way
