Just received notice that the Pointe Coupee Electric Membership Corporation will start disconnecting all electrical service inside the Morganza Floodway starting tomorrow morning from Morganza all the way south to Bayou Pigeon.

That picture is beautiful. That's a picture of the potato levee.
This is a pic of the potato levee this afternoon. The potato levee leads to the morganza
spillway.
Eta- I know you know that. Info is for people who are not familiar with the spillway.

However, I can without a doubt say that Port Barre on to the river is by a long shot the grossest, most no good sobs I've ever been around.
Never spent much time around bayou sorrel I take it?

Man I was looking at those camps on the whiskey bay side of the basin bridge coming home today. Doesn't seem that long ago when they were all under water. Sad it's about to happen again. You say that area south of I10/butte Larose is in the crosshairs again?
My FIL has a camp off of the whickey bay exit on the gravel road that goes to sherburne. they didnt flood last time. I hope for the same this time.

Thanks for the informative updates Voories7. I thank heaven that I don't have any real investment in the path of the upcoming floods. However, my absolute favorite trip of the yr is the Veterans Day bash at my wife's uncles place in Bayou Pigeon. This flood going to hammer down on that area correct? He's got a half million dollar camp there that's nicer than any house I'll ever be able to live in. Worries me
For the old bastard but knowing him he'll move all of his good shite out and pop a cold one w/ no worries.

Not the camps to which I was referring. There are a few on the gravel road right past the Ramah landing that were rebuilt after 2011. Those had water up to the roofs last time. Also had a fairly nice camp on the south side of I10 bout halfway between Ramah and whiskey bay that was flooded up to the roof in 2011. That guy still hasn't rebuilt it Appears. I can't help but feel sorry for them.

Voorhies - the river forecast for BR has been sitting at 44 ft for quite a while now. I'm assuming that this is the level that the corps has set as a "not to exceed" by using the spillways to control it. Otherwise, this crest level would have been fluctuating over the past week or so.
Is there a forecast available that shows anticipated BR stages IF no local spillways were opened? I realize this is all hypothetical, but I'm sure this is out there somewhere.

How, by phone or email? I'm wondering about my place in Pigeon. Guess I will call them today since I didn't get any type of notification.

Sidebar question, did not want to start a separate thread...
Why would anyone build a home in this area that is going to be flooded every 5-10 years? Do they have so much money they can afford it? How do they get loans to do this?

Second hand info...or maybe third...take it fwiw. A buddy of mine works on the river in port Allen. Was talking to him last night, and of course they have them working non stop right now getting ready. Supposedly port captain was told on Tuesday they were anticipating 45.5 and would update once Morganza was opened. But he did also say that he was told Morganza was opening on Friday, so there's that.

It should be interesting what the Atchafalaya basin does with the inflow from the Morganza since it is already high without any additional flow and it is still raining pretty good in the area. There will be some serious pucker factor in the Morgan City area.
