all of which should be insured.

without having to go back through this thread, will any of this affect Belle River and or Lake Verret?

Damming Bayou Chene should minimize impact on Lake Verret area.

The Bonnet Carre will open on Saturday per the USACE recommendation target date.

Belle River could use a good flushing. Caught lots of fish there last year. Getting rid of bad grass would only make it better

Please one of you go to Morganza with a camera if/when the first gate(s) open.

I should have searched. First gate.

Will try. If not, and my daughter is home, I will have her do it. Hell, she lives at the base of the levee.

If TSHTF and the spillway west of Krotz floods those camps and homes are toast.
During the 1973 flood most of the fields along US 71 had as much as 10-12 feet of water on them. People were trawling for crawfish in their boats in those fields back then.

What's the purpose of that canal north of there?

Do you mean the man-made one that runs east / west? Not Bayou Courtableau?

Why would you say those camps are toast? This flood is supposed to be the same or lower than 2011. They didn't flood then. Why now?
Now the camps around whiskey bay and that area are in a pickle fo sho.

Pretty good overview of what the basin is going to deal with even if they weren't to open the Morganza spillway. Really no place to put the water.

Lax bayou deglaises diversion......destined to reduce water flow to part of basin and provide irrigation water (so so e have said)

1983 flood, I was doing that in the forebay in Morganza. I couldn't give crawfish away.

Please note that I said "if". If it gets bad enough to flood that part of the levee system, it means everything has gotten out of control.
