Took the family to Ship Island on Saturday to hang on the beach. They've been dying to get out there since buying this boat a couple months ago, but Mother Nature hasn't played along. Little sporty going out, but laid down slick in the afternoon. Yesterday, we made a long run for a 3 man limit of trout. Smooth as glass outside of the sound around 9am.

Winds have been a pain.

Seaweed came in yesterday too.

Nice! Talked to a friend on Sunday and he said it was pretty sharky and some dirty water out there on Saturday.

I gigged a couple flounder over the weekend but not any consistent numbers.

Winds look good Thursday through Sunday. Debating if I'm going back in the marsh for reds or going to go try to catch some bass.

It was. Soon as I stepped out of the boat, I had to poke a good sized one with my rod tip. It was dirtier than I had expected for sure.

That's crazy! Do y'all wade with the fish you're going to keep tied around your waist while you fish?

I've tried the baskets but the sharks end up eating through the nets. I use a long stringer that has a quick release set up. If you can see the sharks then usually not a problem. Stomp your feet a bit and they go elsewhere. I'll be purchasing the shark repellent magnets in the near future.

So they generally don't go after the fisherman just his catch...

I'll just drink beer and watch from the boat.

Much respect to you guys.

Yeah, as he said, the baskets often get shredded out there. I use a real long cable stringer. Usually just smack them with the rod and they'll leave you alone.

They aren't man eaters. They are keyed on the fish and are drawn to you by their smell receptors and other senses. They want the meat on your stringer, not your leg. If they get too far into you then it becomes a situation where they could harm you reactively when you try to smack, kick, stomp, poke, etc... to get them away. Usually their first instinct is to turn off and swim in another direction if they know there is something there besides fish.

5 redfish limit at 7:30 in PAC. First time using a black spoon and it did not disappoint.

Beautiful fish in those pics! Last few trips to PAC post Ida for me were skunk trips, few hits not far from the WMA area and lost a nice one. Where would you suggest one head from the marina to find reds? Towards the lake or Mine, south down the bayou?

Went surf fishing in Orange Beach Saturday evening and caught 4 specks all over 20" along with 7 skipjack all on topwater. Hated I did it by myself but was very fun to catch trout that size since I'm used to larger quantity but smaller.

I usually fish behind the LDWF camp area. The camp is no longer there.

Pre Ida we were smashing them right off of Grand Bayou not far from the Sulphur Mine/Bully Camp area. Some of the ponds filled in since Ida.

I actually want to head down to check out the marsh towards Lake Chien.

Will have to map me out some spots to check out there next trip down there. Thanks!
