Need the OB's help! Thinking of buying this boat but it's too high to fit in the garage at my camp. Removing the windshield isn't an issue, but the metal bar could be. Do you think a machine shop or someone could cut it and put a step down piece inside the bottom pipe and I could slide the top pipe on it with a pin or something to keep it in? I welcome any suggestions. Thanks.

I think you've got the right idea. Decide how high it has to be, cut out the middle on each side with a hacksaw, leaving equal lengths above and below. Measure the inside diameter of the pipe, buy a corresponding Steel Rod or threaded Rod at the Home Center or online, cut two lengths that will span from curve at the bottom to curve at the top. If the fit is inadequately snug, which it is likely to be if you can't turn a rod down precisely, epoxy (The Mariners duct tape)

i dont know who, or how they did it, but i saw a guy who had his windshield set up to fold down like a canvas top, and when he lifted it up it had a snap lock to hold it in place.

he had it like that for when he went under low bridges and he said it worked great

How much clearance do you need? We had a pontoon boat that we would have to let some air out of the trailer tires to get it under the house. It wasn't much of problem because the pontoon stayed in the water all summer. So we only had to do it twice a year.

I can hear it rattle from here.

Go see a shop that makes t tops and lean posts. They will be able to hook you up.

Can you lower the trailer bunks? And keep it high enough for the lower unit not to be too low?

I’d have to search for it, but I feel like there’s a bar that folds down. Similar to what you’re thinking, pins back into place. I know there are fold down t-tops so I bet there is one.

Some sort of hinge would be better than one that slides in. Should be quieter. Just have to size it correctly.

Modifying the windshield maybe the best approach.....

But 2 things to maybe look at: 1) what would it take to raise the door to the garage at the camp?

2) At the camp, could you "dig" out a low spot so that the trailer tires go down in a low spot just as the windshield passes under the door.

Just thinking outside the box. Is the windshield only 1 inch too high or more like 6 inches?

I like the idea of lowering how the boat sits on the trailer. The metal brackets might could be lowered and maybe a couple of inches could be cut off the wood runners.

Need about 6-8 inches more to make clearance. Raising the garage opening is possible, but probably not cost effective. Digging out the floor isn't an option.

I like the hinge on Amazon, that may work, just need a quick way to detach and attach the windshield, it's just phillips screws.

Thanks for the ideas, now I just need to man up and make an offer and hope he accepts it.

Look at how Nautic Star has theirs, windshield is removable and grab bar can be lowered.

My Skeeter has that as well. All can be done without tools.
