We shoot 5-10 over 130 every year.
We dont report this to anyone.
Avoyelles parish.

I bet this map only includes 10-15% actually killed.

Who dis? Like your club? How many acres?

Also, would it not be fair to say that would be the same state wide? I don’t think one parish would be more likely then another to report a considerably different percentage.

You can have parish to parish differences in reporting based on measurers available in that area. Does Louisiana have any big deer shows that they measure at? Mississippi measures at the Extravaganza in Jackson, as well as other places. Mississippi has over 9,000 entries.

Regardless, it gives you a good idea where trophies are coming from.

Is telling the state which parish a 130" buck came from really a "honey hole".

It is when people think that all you need is the right place to kill big deer. If your lease is almost up and deep pockets show up the year after you put your “big” deer all over the Internet then it’s over for you and your honey hole.

Boss has a 1000 acre lease where they kill over 130 every year. They don’t advertise because of being afraid someone coming in and trying to overbid them on the lease. This is very common. A lot of big deer being killed that’s never reported. His wife killed a monster 10 pt this year that scored 144 before drying.

130 in deer in Madison parish are pretty damn common. These numbers are way off.

Numbers are off because no one reports them. There are hundreds of deer on peoples walls that score over 130”. It does show basic info that you should already know. Bigger deer along the major rivers and less in the pineywoods and much less in the coastal areas

Or you can interpret it as the “brown and down” areas produce less trophies and/or distance from coonasses

I don’t believe 1-2-3 in northeast la area.

Catahoula produces as much as Concordia does.

Avoyelles number is high mostly because of Lake Ophelia deer get reported and absolute monsters that also get scored. I personally think Avoyelles is best in state. Lots of 130 deer don’t get reported everywhere but a LOT of clubs in Avoyelles parish, especially around Lake Ophelia, encourage member to not report big deer.
