The Lacey Act is not to be taken lightly, gents.
IMO, the guy deserves everything they are throwing at him.
He knew what he was doing was highly illegal. I have no sympathy for these type of people.

permanently lost their right to firearms as a result of their Felony conviction

not true
Absolutely true. The ATF takes that right away. There is supposedly a process by which they can return those rights to convicted felons but, they do not ever do it.
Also, their passports are usually seized therefore, no means for international travel. If they do try to travel, the State Department can easily identify them and notify the Federal Probation Officers.
These guys need to find a new line of work.

I agree completely with this. My problem is with the way our justice system gives less prison time for crimes a lot more serious than what these guys did. You've seen it happen. I've seen it happen. Up here this week, a guy got 30 days probation for being an accessory to MURDER.

Its only illegal for you to possess a firearm (in LA anyway) as a felon if you committed a violent crime, i.e. armed robbery, domestic violence, etc.

No shite. I know a couple of guys who have been busted under this act and have done time for it. Don't mess with the feds when it comes to the Lacey Act.
