6 months in Federal pound me in the arse prison
4 months in a halfway house
$3,000 fine

Sounds harsh, but this guy has been illegally killing gators for 5+ years.

And you can be an illegal alien with no drivers license, get drunk, kill somebody or some family and not get as much time as these guys received. I better shut up now because I don't want to get on my soapbox and hijack this thread...

They have had it out for this guy for a long time, his dad or relative was a judge out there and he always seemed to get away with everything, the judge recently passed away and he got the hammer. This was not his first offense

Its just b/c it was federal, he had several Lacey act violations, that's what did him in. If it was just state charges, it wouldn't have been that bad.

Well, it's a good thing he didn't have a pre-war Gibson J-45 guitar with Brazilian rosewood in his possession, too...

All these guys are done in terms of being a hunter or guide. They have permanently lost their right to firearms as a result of their Felony conviction.

obviously you need to start cleaning fish then...

Or give one to the people cleaning next to you

Saw a guide come in with at least 10 illegal fish.
I just kept looking at him and laughing.
Who would risk their captain's license for that?

Travis Dardenne and Jeffrey Brown, both of Plaquemine, were sentenced on Feb. 4, 2010 and ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and serve one year of probation for violations of the Lacey Act. Dardenne and Brown had connections to Dupont’s guiding services. As part of their punishment, they are prohibited from hunting or guiding anywhere in the world during their probation.

If on probation aren't they strictly monitored on travel and if not how the hell do you enforce that?
