Louisiana/ Mississippi Rut: 2019/ 2020

Wanted to start a thread so people can provide information or get information regarding the rut.
I have 2 places I hunt:
I’ll be spending 5 out of the next 6 weeks hunting at our place in Tensas. This is a large piece private property my brothers and I own. The bucks are getting at it right now up here. Saw some nice looking bucks that aren’t quite mature enough chasing does the last few days, especially this morning. Historically, our bigger bucks have been taken the next 11-12 days. Are some of you that hunt Tensas Parish seeing the same thing right now?
The other area I hunt is 300 acres I bought last year closer to home in SELA along the Amite River literally a couple miles from the SWMS border. I bought that place because it’s closer to home and work and makes it easier to get hunts in when I’m super busy at work. It’s obviously nowhere near as good as our place up north but it has a good deer herd and it’s an ideal habitat for whitetail. 73 acres is 6 year cutover and the rest is primarily hardwoods in the river bottom. Judging from what I saw last year and what I’ve seen this year, I don’t think the rut kicks into full gear until after January 1st.
I’ve looked at some sites that use data from over the years and it says about the same thing for that area. I cannot remember the name of the website that had that rut map but it was linked on the OB earlier in the year. If anyone remembers what site it is and can post a link it’d be greatly appreciated.
Curious to see what the deer are doing in other parishes/ counties.
Good luck everyone and please be safe over the holidays. As most of you know this is the time of year the woods are filled with hunters and not all of them hunt safe or ethical. Just watch out for the idiots.

Ldwf rut map is one, not sure if that’s what your talking about or not.
It seems to be fairly accurate for where I hunt in area 4

Chasing pretty hard in Southern Morehouse (below the hill). Starting to see some decent activity where I’m at in Tensas

Nothing in St. Tammany yet. I'm thinking the week after Christmas hopefully.

Here it is,, it’s based on when people search the most for deer feeding though.

What area of Tensas? We are in south Tensas and don't feel like they are full chasing yet. Hearing a lot of that going on just north of us though.

It’s somewhat accurate for my zip code. But the science behind is where i struggle. Bunch of Coonasses and rednecks searching for deer feeding times based on previous generations telling them when the rut is...

I hunt in town in Mer Rouge and north of town and have barely seen any rut activity. Saw several small bucks and does this evening with no indication of full blown rut. I look for it to turn on after the rain this weekend.

As of the last 2 days of hunting in Port Gibson Ms; 1.5 and 2.5 year olds horny and running around grunting like crazy, but chasing everything from yearlings to bigger does. 1 mature buck I seen cams out looked at doe sniffed then went to feeding.

I hunt in Amite Co. killed a nice 8 last year that was about 10 yards behind a doe. Killed on Dec. 28th so that map seems pretty close.
Our lease has been quiet and the. Last night we see 3 different bucks on camera. So should be getting there in the next 2-3 weeks.

Wonder why Mississippi’s makes so much sense compared to Alabama and Louisiana

Pretty spot on for where I hunt in northeast Catahoula, near Tensas. Lots of young bucks on the move lately. The big boys are gonna be moving in the daylight soon. Jan 2-15 is historically our most active rut dates.

We hunt the south end of Tensas also, just starting to see fresh scrapes and rubs. Bucks still grouped together on game cam pics from last night. Had 4 in one pic. They are getting testy though, several pics of the younger bucks fighting. Had one basket 6 pt cruise by my stand this morning.
Last 2 years our rut has started first week of January.

Lots of scrape activity. Saw four does run by me one after the other. Small buck right on their heels.
