Prayers sent.

My stepdad went to the dr today for chest pains and they called the ambulance to take him to hosp.

They admitted him and we haven't heard anything yet.
His dad and both of his brothers died young from heart attacks and strokes.

We all chase a f'n dollar our whole life and forget to live along the way. Then one day your time is short and money a'int shite no more. Hunt and fish while you can and let God handle the details.

I've tried to do as much as I could in younger days, I've seen too many sacrifice their whole life and never live long enough to enjoy itt

Sorry to hear man. The only advice I can offer is to cherish the good times you had with her in your heart and do the best you can. I hope her son is in good hands going forward.

My condolences to you and your family.

I was young when I lost my grandfather...and didn't really think 59 was that young....but then I lost my dad at 60...and I was only 37. Then that was too young. Then I lost a friend earlier this month that was only 31 in a diving accident...I'm 41...and reality is starting to set in. Never thought about death that much...and to be honest don't want to other than to make sure the Mrs is taken care of when I go.

I believe as my father believed...when the good Lord calls you home....it's just your time. No sense in worrying about what you can't control.

Her funeral was today. I also learned she overdosed on heroine. Just a sad situation all around. She came form a great family, her poor dad was telling me today how hard they tried and she tried to get and stay clean. I don't know what she was running from or what she was chasing, but she doesn't have to anymore. I'll remember as a happy, care-free 20 year old who was a blast to be around.

Thanks for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers guys.

That's terrible man. God bless. I'm an ER nurse and I see more and more deaths from and overdoses from all these crazy arse drugs these days. It's sad.

I'm sorry bro. I know how hard it is to make sense of loss involving heroine. Some of my friends couldn't shake it either ...sucks.

more prayers sent brother , I too can relate.

I'm a drug addict & alcoholic and have been sober since 12-27-87. Checked myself into treatment when I was 19 b/c I was scared I was gonna die from the lifestyle I was living.

One of my best friends growing up (NOLA) went to treatment before I did as he was an inspiration for me getting help. Sadly he relapsed several times and never could escape his addiction. In 1995 he OD'd at 25 yrs young. I often reflect upon the happier times we shared and pray for his family who had so many questions left unanswered .

If you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to contact me

Got Blaze,

Keep fighting the fight brother. My wife has been clean and dry since 6/12/12. You guys probably don't hear often enough how much being sober is a blessing to the ones close to you. I have never been prouder of my wife then I am today. One Day At a Time.

Got Blaze - Thanks man. Congratulations on your sobriety. We used to party really, really hard, and sort of like you, after a couple years of it, I got scared and tried to stop, but I'd still slip a little now and then. Fortunately I also met my wife at the same time. If she hadn't walked into my life, I don't think I'd be where I am now. I'm not stone cold sober (alcohol was never really my problem or my thing) but I've got my life in order and couldn't or wouldn't have done it without her.

Keep on hanging in there, and if you too need someone to talk to, the same offer stands.

I'm blessed to still be here today and definitely have more than 9 lives.

back in the mid-early 80's when I was a teenager using, I'd score my dope from the Calliope and Melpomene projects. White middle class teenagers from Metry ain't supposed to be anywhere near tha hood.

Being a pallbearer sucks as I personally never want to experience the feelings I had during my teenage years. Had several free ride college scholarships for football and wrestling , turned them down so I could go to LSU and party like a rock star. 3 semesters and I had enough of the misery and depression. Made the decision I had to change or I was the one who would be buried.

I definitely live one day at a time and do what I can to help others crying for help. Many people are to embarrassed to ask for help, and often think they can solve their own problems.

My children are 16 and 13 as they know my past and I'm open about everything I did. As a parent, the worst feeling in the world is knowing what's out there and having no control over what decisions your kids make. I live by the Serenity Prayer daily and pray my kids learn from my mistakes and don't venture the path I travelled.
