It probably doesn't fit you worth a damn.
You can buy a Remington model 7 in 7mm08 and both you and your boy will be able to use it comfortably. They're sweet arse little rifles.

You look kind of familiar. Where you from?

Come on now, you can do better than that. I'm 6'2" 150lbs and run 3-1/2" Black Clouds on a regular basis.
I started hunting at age 13 and hunted with a 30-06 and never noticed the kick.
Went shooting at a friends house the other day and my wife shot the same gun I grew up hunting with and she loved it.
Here she is taking a shot LINK
I don't know honestly what type of gun to get that would be fine for a 4-5 year old to shoot but I'm sure somone here will know.

The kick on a semi-auto is less than a bolt action or crack barrel. OP, might want to look into semis

Definitely less kicking on a semi-auto.

I bought lil-J the Remington 770 .243. I should have done more research b/c it has a little too much recoil for him. Now he has no choice and needs to nut up.

I haven't shot too many rifles that kick as hard as a 3" mag high velocity steel load, semi auto or not.

Academy sells a new remington 700 for less than $400. You can buy that, take the factory stock off and get a youth stock put on. When your kids outgrow the youth stock, slap the full size back on it and keep the youth stock for their kids.

Yea, most of those cheap combos come in the more traditional calibers.

I got my son Tyrone a Savage .243 for Christmas, if you want to check it out and shoot it LMK. We can set something up.
