A big pecan fell right across my boat but the motor was undamaged. It’s an older Yamaha 225. 1988 model, runs great, just had a 400 hour tuneup done on it. The boat is a total loss, but I’m going to try and buy it back from the insurance company and then sell the motor. What you guys think it’s worth ?

I know…about 350

For whatever reason, I read that as a big Pelican....

Dang, if you took the halfs of that pecan shell and sealed the hell out of 'em, you could have 2 big arse boats, and a whole lot of pecan pie.

You can check the motor value on NADAguides. At that age, I wouldn’t be trying to buy it back though personally. Mfg’s aren’t required to make parts past an items 10yr mark. They can and may but something breaks down the road parts may be an issue.

i would've had the motor off before the insurance company came over to get it.

i feel like you'd be wasting your time. use the insurance cash to buy a new-ish boat if that's what you want.

Just unbolt the motor?

They should be two separate entities.

I know when I had mine they were.

Motor is worth more as an insurance claim than selling outright. Don’t commit insurance fraud for such a meager amount of money.
