Long story short, current F150 has 200k and decided that it doesn't need 2nd thru 6th gear anymore.

I've always bought vehicles new, but I shite myself when I got my wife's tahoe. Note is doubled what I paid for her last one.

So these truck prices are borderline retarded. Even used, high mileage F150s are what I'm used to paying for a new truck. Pretty sure a damn xlt costs what i paid for my old king ranch.

So now I'm looking used since I'm too much of a Jew to pay these new prices. I have to tow about 9k-ish once a month and may look into upgrading our camper into something bigger or maybe an ultralight 5th wheel
How many miles would you consider when buying a truck? I'm looking to the 25k range to MAYBE 30.... I don't wanna pay 700 a month like I'm doing for our tahoe. I'm leary about buying used because no warranty and spending that much coin only to have to throw thousands more into it if it breaks.

4x4 isn't a must. It's going to be a daily driver. Tow a 9k camper on the weekends.
Brand? Trim?

I'll sit back and listen.

Used V8 Tundra. Nothing else compares in the reliability department.

Let's add to this.
Would any of the OB buy a fairly newish truck with over 100k for 25-30k?

I’m right there with ya. Also in the market.

Assuming 4x4: In my opinion, the best value is a Silverado 1500. A 24’ LT is around $45K, custom is ~$40K. Custom’s only come w/ the 4cyl “turbomax”. LT has a 5.3, turbo max or baby diesel option. Turbomax engines come with 100K mile power train warranty. 5.3 is 60K miles.

It seems comparable Tundra’s / Ford / GMC’s are $10K plus more.

I'm looking also. Anyone deal with Mark Ram in Lake Charles? They seem cheaper than anyone around Nola and have a huge reddit following.

FIL just bought a used 2024 Nissan Titan with less than 10k miles. A true 5.6 L V8 engine and priced less than Tundras. 2024 is the last production year for the Titan. Nissan is going back solely to making the smaller Frontier. The Titan is a solid truck with drivetrain. The older Tundras had the 5.7 L V8.

Used XL f250 with a 6.2 is a great value. There are a lot of themand you can find one not abused.

Whatever you buy be prepared to walk. I just did on a vehicle for the wife that was just stupid what they wanted

They called me back Saturday and knocked off 6k. It's a used odyssey and we're going look tomorrow. They asked me why I turned them down the first time and I had all my research and explained to them the market value as I saw.

Don't be afraid either to take a one way plane ticket and drive a vehicle home. I'm not sure where you are located but the Dallas and Texarkana markets are significantly cheaper than swla and lower louisiana markets. Even better than houston usually. Look all the way down to Brownsville.

I looked at the turbomax. I swear either I'm partially autistic or dealer websites suck, I can't find the max towing capacity on them.

I purchased a truck from Enterprise car sales several years ago. It has been a great truck. It had about 30,000 miles when I bought it and a complete set of maintenance records. I am in need of another truck soon and will be giving that a serious look again.

Sales guys in our company average about 45,000mi per year and we get paid mileage so we’ve tried them all. The best, most reliable trucks, have been the V8 tundra. I traded mine in at 265,000mi and my boss traded his at 300,000+, with no issues. The only reason I got rid of mine was because the seats killed my back. If not for that, I’d still have it.

My co-worker is still running his and he just turned 505,000 miles on his and all he has done to it is put a new alternator in it and new bearing on the back tires.

I think towing 9k is too much for a F150. Don't be fooled to think you can safely tow the capacity rating, you can not.

Use the GCWR rating and you will find you can safety tow about 80% of towing capacity.

Best engine I have ever had. Better than the Toyota or Ford V8's.
It was in the wife's Armada, and it was a beast.
