I think so. I bet that was real awkward for him to be in that scene considering the ooutcome. I bet watching that whole thing get made was surreal for him in general.

The part in the book after he debriefed when he was shown the photos of all his fallen comrades was the worst part for me. I could not imagine losing three of my best friends then learning the rest of them saddled up for a rescue but perished.

If anyone was interested, there is another book that details the rescue effort side. Ill look it up and post a link.

"Chesty Puller "We've been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies our problem of getting to these people ..."

Another great American hero.

I saw it last night and thought it was great. I understand from my buddy that they added a few scenes that didn't happen in the book, but I haven't read it so it didn't bother me much. Great story and great acting from the crew. Awe inspiring and makes you love the US of A.

I just start re-reading Lone Survivor last night, in anticipation of seeing the movie. Early in the book, p. 43 to be exact, he's discussing his twin brother and says, "He's about seven minutes older than I am, and around the same size (six feet five inches, 230 pounds)."

There is also a picture of him in the Oval Office with his parents and George W. Bush. Marcus appears to be a good bit taller than Dubya, who I think is over six feet.

Great story though and awesome book.

Haven't read the book.
I have, however, read American Sniper.

Don't know if y'all knew this or not, but a movie about Chris Kyle, under the same name as his book ("AS"), w/ Spielberg directing. Gerard Butler & Bradley Cooper potential leading role?

Thoughts?

Hollywood...

only other comment I have was heard some kid say "that was just like Call of Duty" on the way out. That shut pisses me off so bad. I know too many people that spent too much time over in that hell hole to listen to that kind of ignorant horseshut

anyway, carry on

Fantastic movie.

Awesome book.

That slide show at the end was powerful.

"Never shoot a large caliber man with a small caliber bullet"

What do expect a kid to say?

When the battle of 9th ward and 7th ward was raging in gentilly woods thats exactly what it was like....

Kids in America have it good...thats the way its supposed to be. Are they spoiled, yes.
