Just got settled in this tent set up in an overgrown fence row between hayfields. The rice bran pile is scattered since Wednesday and hoping the rain holds off. Updates coming.

Set up on a funnel in east fel parish. If they move after daylight they should come through here. The tree I'm in is of questionable integrity

Nothing against squirrel hunters, but frick having that season open the same weekend as the bow opener.

Eh, they've helped me more than hurt me. I'm hoping I can get a deer today so the pressure is off and I can Squirrel hunt the rest of the weekend.

A deer isn’t worth risking your life over!

Hope you smack one.

Thanks!

The tree is alive but crooked as all hell. My stand is all wonky in it. I'm tied off so should be good but it's a bit sketchy standing up

Ladder stand on the edge of a bedding area. Thermacell is doing work. Warmer than I like to hunt but hey, it's opening day!

I'm in St. Rose set up over an oak flat (my desk), but good luck and keep the reports coming for the rest of the working class.

In Evangeline Parish in a ground blind
Been an adventure already! Sunk my bike and had to walk.
Left my rangefinder in my bow case and then misjudged a distance and shot over a doe

That’s bow hunting! Feel blessed to be in the woods today

Nice Buck.

Interesting shot placement/angle.

Small hole in the brush. Small 8 and a spike were with him and all 3 were looking my way. It was either take the shot or miss the opportunity. Slot was high but not a spine shot. Surprising the he fell right where he was shot. No tracking.

Angle on the bolt is off in the picture. After the buck fell he raked the bolt with his horns and bent the shaft. I expected him to get up but never did. He fell on the shot and never got up. Shot placement is the only part of the shoulder without a branch in the way. I was surprised i didn’t get more penetration but it did the job.

Hmmm.

It's a good thing he fell right there, you would have never found him otherwise...

Agree. Without the exit wound and minimal blood on the ground where he fell would of been tough. Fortunately it was a hard impact and broadhead did a bunch of damage to internals. He struggle for about 15 minutes and expired.
