re: Let’s hear some good game warden stories where people did dumb - HeftyBear
Not my story but... Late 90's early 2000's. My buddy Ken and his brothers were hunting Alexander State Forest on muzzle loader weekend. One morning as they were getting back to their trucks on the highline out steps GW. Now this is not Ken's first run in with this GW, who's well known in the are...

re: Anyone have a camp at Larto? - HeftyBear
Not sure about 3102. I check that gauge because LDWF uses it for opening/closing Hunt road in Dewy Willis WMA. Buddy of mine rode in to Phill's Landing on Monday to check out his camp. His is fine but there are a lot that aren't fairing so well....

re: Help. Best place to buy 15 gallon tree? - HeftyBear
Jap. Red Maples fit your description but price may be an issue. I knew a place that had them for $75/per but they recently retired. Nursery Festival is coming up soon, I'd suggest ridding up and shopping around. ...

re: Weekly Fishing Thread: 2/11 - HeftyBear
Had to do the tie down of shame at the IC launch Sunday. Got there and unhooked, went to trim up to take my motor brace off and had no power. Nav light switch got turned on I'm guessing when I got something out of the boat last week. At least it was a short drive home.........

Ducks are heading South! - HeftyBear
I drive a good stretch of I49 for work. After this cool front I'm happy to report that the ducks have moved from the pond right next to exit 81 just south of Alexandria. They are now in the bar ponds around mile marker 79. If these patterns continue I estimate they should be in the crawfish ponds...

I've always had luck with it early season and late season, if acorns are falling they don't touch it. This is in piney woods in CenLa. Flavor has never made much difference in my area....

Old Safety Harnesses - HeftyBear
Found a couple of old basic safety harnesses in a closet today and was wondering what I could do with them. I've upgraded to a HSS and wanted to get y'alls opinion before I threw them out. Seems like the straps or buckles would be good for something. Thanks in advance guys....

re: Deer Hunter Per Acre - HeftyBear
My club is also around Glenmora and we are close to 1 hunter/100. I know the area and what you describe shouldn't be an issue given the terrain. Also as others have said, aside from opening day you will most likely never have all members there at the same time. Just out of curiosity which side of...

re: What's the 2nd most important factor in duck hunting success? - HeftyBear
Being able to hunt whenever the weather is right,
This! Last year it seemed like the fronts always came through at a time that made the best hunting whenever I had to work. The weather gods said to me, "What's that? You looked at the extended forecast and scheduled a vacation ...

re: Do you carry a gun in your boat? - HeftyBear
Not Trying to Hijack, but as someone who just bought their first boat why carry? Trouble at the landing? Snakes? Of course as an inexperienced boater I lost all my guns in a tragic accident on my first trip but should I go get another to carry with me now....

re: Questions about the nurseries in Forest Hill, La. - HeftyBear
I live in Forest Hill. DYN is one of the biggest and should have everything you need. Check out Sam Stokes for vegetables and ornamental/bedding plants. He's probably getting ready to close up for the summer and you might snag some deals. I should mention my in-laws place as well but sinc...
