Powell Naked and Endurance are my two favorite. They are worth more than they sell for. They have cork handles too if that is something you prefer.

My last 2 rods have been custom made from Swampland in Lafayette. They're reasonably priced and I was able to pick everything out.

Gotten all of my rods there for the last three years. So much nicer than anything off the shelf. As long as he keeps building, I’m buying.

What does he charge for a rod? What blank is he building with?

Found a company named SixGill a few years ago. They have a lot of rods for different setups. I have about 12 of their rods and have been very satisfied. The Scythe is awesome, I have mh and h in it. The last two rods I bought were bps platinums and they're both very nice. They were $200 each.

I am glad that place was mentioned here. They actually have Sixth Sense Panorama 5" in stock. Those things sold out everywhere like 1 day.

Great rods in the early 90's but technology has advanced and their time is gone.

I have one of these still, I think. Never gets used which is a real shame. I should probably fix it up for salt.

I'm at the point where I'd prefer a cork grip over everything else. The polymer wrap on the handle of my N3 is flaking and peeling off after a couple of years. I'm fixing to put one of those heat shrinkable wraps over it. Funny that this was my post on page 3.

I just got these in the spring so still basically new but I appreciate the heads up on the grips.

I think this blanks close
North fork composite
Delta
NB 705-1 worm
Looking at $40 but probably cheaper to buy two vs paying freight.
Then roll with Fuji guides on sale
Fuji grips and cork handles.
Check all the rod builder companies for sales.
Some people like Winn grips it just increases cost.

It’s probably my most used rod. So the mileage may have something to do with it. Here’s what it’s looking like.

Winn grips feel cool. - good

They do wear down- bad
Price- they are a-little more expensive.

I have tried but cannot get on board with winn grips. I'm 100% cork on my bass tackle right now but may mess around with a full carbon handle build soon. The handle-seat combos that NFC makes look tempting and weigh next to nothing.

Same. I liked them at first but they just don’t hold up.

Last night I put some of that heat shrinkable wrap over that handle and it came out nicer than I was expecting. Feels pretty comfortable, too.

I always try to go all cork, but sometimes I find deals I cannot pass up. I got a lot of Ark rods from a guy with foam, and I really like them. Same for my Major Craft.

Any of you know anything about the Shimano Intenza line?

Mine just came in. Found one like $70 off through Walmart somehow. 6'10" MH. This may be the best bargain I have ever received in fishing. It might not be a true MH, but it feels like one of those rods you could use for almost anything. My new cheap Curado is going on it and I will try those single bladed spinnerbait Lanier sold me on it.

Sounds like a great deal.

The old intenzas were notorious for being pretty slow, even the faster action models. I haven't read a ton about the 2023 edition but I know the spiral x technology has trickled down and helps put a firmer butt section into the blank.

I love 6'8" - 6'10" rods. They're do much fun to fish with.
