I never keep a bass over 3 lbs. I am a tournament fisherman and most of the time I'm prefishing for a tournament.... occasionally I'll keep a few dinks for the freezer but anything I think could help in a tourney goes back in the water.

Must be slow at the office today.

Have there been any threats of beat downs in this thread?

I watched a guy filet and eat a 10lb 4oz bass from Grand Bayou Reservoir around 2004. I didn't do it myself, but I did reserve myself some of the backbone for frying. She was fat and delicious.

I've personally eaten bass up to 7lbs. I don't do it regularly, but I had a stringer of 6 over 5.5lbs we cleaned and ate last spring. They were delicious as well.

3 pounds, only fried. Unless I catch a 4 pounder then I eat it fried.

May Cher, why you done trow dat bass back.

He was too big.

Goo, sure. But what do you have against Gar?

Reverse it. Goo makes such a fine gravy.

The smallest ones of legal length. They are third on my list behind white perch and bullhead blugill. Season them. Add a light coat of mustard and batter. Small bass are really good eating when fried until the last minute.
