Yeah I agree. Land Cruisers have some really nice leather but the Lexus is a different level. Also you get air conditioned seats (came to the LC in '13), electric flipping second row and electric folding 3rd row seats. Makes a difference.

First thing to do if I had to "settle" for an LX is get some 18" LC wheels and BFGs.

2008 LC with 123k for $25,500 in Memphis. But it's on Manheim.

2010 LX 570 with 80k for $35,000 in Orlando.

Agreed, that does make a difference. Looks sharp with the bfgs.

Pic didn't show up, but that's alseems to be a good deal. Probably at the very upper end of the budget though.

Also keep in mind that the pre-08 Land Cruisers have a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100,000 miles. 08 and after have a timing chain.

Manheim Auto Auctions, a nationwide auto auction. Their website is dealers only. They list all the cars nationwide coming up for sale at auctions. Many of them you can purchase before the auction.

There's 96 LX 570's and 68 Land Cruisers on it.

I've got my salesman license and buy under my father's dealer license.

I picked up a nice Lexus GX 470 at auction last night. I'm partial to Lexus.

Ahhhh.

How much work do dealers put into cars they sell used? I would feel nervous about buying a car from an auction. Is that just in my head? Am I giving dealerships too much credit?

That's awesome. Appreciate the offer. And you wouldn't have any problem buying one with 100k on it already? I think that's the biggest hangup for her. It sounds so high.

Just talked to my friend who's a master mechanic and knows a ton about land cruisers. He said there have been a few recalls and technical service bulletins but nothing major. 100,000 on that truck is nothing.

I try not to buy vehicles that need a lot of work. I don't mind a little dirty, because I detail the shite out of them myself. I don't like body damage or interior damage. That can get too expensive and time consuming. I usually go to the auction the day before and test drive what I'm interested in. If it's got mechanical problems, I pass. Not worth the time and money.

The key to buying a used vehicle is to test drive it thoroughly, not just around the block, take on a highway and up to cruising speed. And more importantly, take it to a mechanic and have them drive it and maybe put it on the rack and check underneath.

When I sell a vehicle, I suggest this to the buyers. If they find something wrong, I'll fix it.

Is the LX 470 the equivalent of the LC?

I think the 570 is the Lexus version.

From 1999 to 2007 it was. In 2008, with the new body style, it became the LX 570.

(4.7L to 5.7L engine).
