Where are some other places i can go with my boat for specks and or reds? Are there places in big lake and are marshy?
Rockafeller? Hackberry?
Where we crabbed in hackberry there was a boat launch, and alot of march area. i just dont know if they catch fish around there. i know absolutely nothing about finding specks or reds. ive always had someone put me on them.

I've caught lots of specks out of west cove in small boats. South bank. The launch is closed for 30 days for some sorta construction though

Any of you guys know if its legal to set jug lines in Big Alabama in Sherburne?
Posted on 7/24/17 at 5:07 pm to Homey the Clown
Why? There isn't shite in there to catch. I kid, but seriously.
I am installing my point 1 on Wednesday and hope to fish this weekend somewhere. Where is everyone going?

I'm not sure. But you could call the WLF office in Opelousas and they'll be able to tell you anything you need to know.
Hopefully I'll get to make a trip this weekend. Probably Henderson.

I've definitely seen jug lines in Big Alabama every time I've driven along the road, especially out by the camps.
Whether it is legal or not is another question entirely.
ETA: Looking at the regs, there is nothing that says lines are prohibited on WMAs. In fact, specific WMAs (like Rockefeller) have regulations against lines, but Sherburne does not. I would just make sure the jugs/noodles are labeled with your information (think the brochure says what you have to have) and go for it!
ETA2: Could be wrong on that label part. That may only apply to certain waters.

Wasn't sure if I was gonna share it, but why not. Went to Bayou Benoit this past Saturday and got our asses handed to us. We ended up catching 8 total. But only 4 were keeper size. We were hell bent on catching them on frogs. As you'll see, we missed a bunch. I only had the GoPro on for about an hour, so I didn't get a lot of footage. But here's what I got. Didn't think it was worth trying to video all day.

It was tough finding good water. The water fell kinda fast, so all that dead water in the woods has been flowing out of there and creating that black, dead water in some areas.
We were back near the Beau Bayou area in that video and it wasn't bad. The water was kinda dark, but we at least saw a lot of fish activity. And it was flowing. Closer to the GA cut the water stunk really bad. The water closer to the launch was good, but it was kinda muddy. We didn't have any luck right there, but we saw one guy haul in about a 3-1/2 lber. We couldn't get anything but garfish to bite. Still, we caught 8 bass, but only 4 were keeper size. I don't even know how many we missed. Too many to count.

Did y'all go back to oak Ridge?
Posted on 8/2/17 at 5:23 pm to Janky
Nope. We started to go that way but the water looked too bad so we just turned around.

I hope to be joining you baws soon. Just bought an old boat and I'm getting a few things in order before I take it out. It's been over 10 years since I've been fishing.
I grew up fishing pretty much every weekend. Mostly fished Lake Fausse Point, Dauterive Lake, Charenton, duck lake , and wax lake. I can't wait to get back out there.

Congrats on getting back on the water.

How hard was it getting back there? Water level ok for my boat? I am thinking about fishing Sunday and don't really want to fight the crowd in Henderson.
Posted on 8/3/17 at 7:58 am to Janky
I dunno man. We usually don't try unless the water at the river is at least above 6 ft. Looks like it's slightly lower than that right now, but according to the projection it'll be back above 6 by Sunday.

We didn't have any trouble, and we saw a few big bass boats back there.

They weather looks ifffy at best. That is pretty far away to get caught in a thunderstorm.
