What’s the ob’s consensus on age / safety measures on little ones riding sxs or 4 wheeler?
Little Booux is 3 and we’ve started riding the sxs around the lease. I bought an extra car seat and strap him in, as too small for seatbelts. Was thinking if I should get him a helmet or not. Prob overkill but I don’t know what I’d do with myself if something happened to him.

Your 3 yr old is big enough to drive a side by side?

My rule of thumb is they have to be able to whipe there arse before they take the wheel. I mean able, no racing stripes, well skip that, I have been know to leave a stripe or two.

I did this very thing back in 2010 when I bought my RTV. My middle one was a year old and he wanted to go everywhere we went. I took the car seat out of my truck and strapped his little butt in it. He was locked in tight. We still laugh about it to this day. My wife said if there was a redneck of the year award I woulda won it . Good times

I ride my 3 yr old around in my ranger. I buckle her in and don't do anything crazy. She enjoys it.

The advancements in UTV safety has changed dramatically. Doors, seatbelts, ect. I have had no problem riding my 5 grands in my Mule, making sure all were seatbelted in and going at a reasonably slower than normal clip

I've been riding my daughter around on the 4wheeler since she was 6 months old. Not doing anything more than a second gear cruise down the cane field row, but she's always loved it. Put a cheap little car seat in the sxs since she was that big too. She always loved riding.

My family drinks beer while Bush hogging with a cigarette in their mouth and a 2 year old in his lap.
Having a car seat on a sxs seems about as safe as a person could get.

Having flipped a side by side due to a hidden hole, I'll tell you a kid is doomed in a wreck. Only thing they have going for them is they are made of rubber bands.
Having said that, life is too short not to enjoy the simple things.
I let my 8 year old niece ride with me in my buggy. Even at 70, she laughs to no end. I make her wear a helmet and I have 4 pt harnesses.
