They definitely are. I like em. I kinda want one now.
That or one of the Diablos like Coon has. I'd just hate having to sit down the whole time I fish.

Some tour company is going to sell paddleboard tours up here this summer off the cruise ships. I usually get to try these things for free every year but I am passing on this one in protest.

Went yesterday to a pond down the road. Caught quite a few bass, but they were all small. Filleted good though.
Bunch of haters in this thread. Not surprised though.
Motorboat is mad because I'm catching fish and Old Geauxt is hating on my jap truck because he fought in WWII.

May be going to Cocodrie again Sunday. Hit me up if you think you can make it.

Kayaks are awesome, but I am old school. I have three, but they all have basically the same design and are designed for the sea. Nothing else can possibly measure up to the standard of my own personal preference (standard OB reply.)
Got one wooden, one fiberglass and one high tech resin (plastic, really...just sounds better) All are similar

Awesome!
Related note. I'll never fish out of a kayak in the ocean without some sort of navigational device. My wife's uncle got lost years ago for hours fighting a fish that drug him out. I'd freak the frick...

iPhone FTW.
But a handheld GPS would probably be great for that. I've seen yaks with a depthfinder mounted on it, could also possibly get one with GPS and mount that.
Even just having a compass would help really.

I really can't see anyone getting that far from familiar landmarks in a kayak. Cut the line. Any non motorized craft, really. I don't have navigational equipment but never stray from a known area.
In half a dozen years your cell phone will be able to tell you exactly where you are, send for help, administer first aid and have pizza waiting for you when you get rescued anyway.

Meh, when your back is to the land and you've got one as big as he said he had I can see losing track being easier than one would think. Hell, I've paddled out where I could barely see land before just for the ride. Hooking a nice fighter would definitely be a momentarily top priority.
I'd be fine with a compass. Just sayin I'd at least have to have that.

we've hooked big sharks that have pulled us mile(s) out before, it's easy as your paddling back to see your truck on the shore line though.. i've never had a problem and cell phone would help me if i did

No shite. I haven't caught a fish in 6 weeks and I'm not resorting to bass fishing. This wind needs to die quickly.
