Just spent a crapload on new sod and do not want to screw it up with first cut.

I had sod(emerald zoysia) laid about 5 weeks ago for my entire lawn. I have watered it twice a day every day and it has greened up quite nice, and is starting to grow to point I think I need to cut it for the first time.
After spending 6k on this grass I do not want to f it up.
So what I have gathered so far and what my landscaper told me is that if i tug it with a decent pull and it doesn't come up it is rooted enough to cut.
The majority of pieces do not come up and look rooted well, a few pieces next to my house still come up.
1) Should I go ahead and cut it and be careful near house pieces?
2) Should I raise my lawn mower to the top height setting?
3) I also read I should not water it for a couple of days to make sure it is drier before cutting?
4) Any other advice?

Even when long zoysia is a good looking grass, and it doesn’t get that long.
I wouldn’t be scared to delay the cutting.
I have a small yard and use a manual reel mower for cutting. The scissor like blades are much better for the health of the grass than a rotary that effectively shreds the ends of the grass.

Cut it high as possible to start, then lower and do again if it does ok. It's pretty tough stuff once it's growing.

I wouldn't be in a hurry honestly. Even when its long, zoysia doesn't look that bad like other grass. Be patient. You won't hurt it letting it grow but you can hurt it cutting it too early.

How big is the yard? I would push mow the first few times if at all possible I have seen many squares of sod turned up by zero turns.

Oh yeah. Definitely push mower. I've always read to try to keep zoysia trimmed so it will grow thicker.

Yes I will be using a push mower. Thanks

Nice Is my dream to have a zoysia yard one day. As previously mentioned I'd cut small increments off at a time, especially if not using a reel mower.

This is the way to do it. Cut it as high as your mower will go and lower it from there just a step at a time. You don't want to tear the grass already established out of the ground, so take it slow and if it looks to be damaging the lawn, raise the mower.
This isn't rocket science or brain surgery, just a bit of common sense.

Sounds right
Set your mower to the highest setting and mow

When I laid sod a few years ago, the people told me on the first cut to cut it on one of the highest settings of my mower, and bag only the first cut. After that, wait until it needs cutting again, and then I could gradually reduce the cutting height to normal.
As long as the grass isn't wet and your blade is sharp, you shouldn't have a problem with clumping. You are also watering it too much. Feel free to cut back on that, especially since it has been raining every day. You should be watering in the morning. Watering in the late afternoon or at night promotes fungus growth.
The St Aug I laid down is too effing thick now. It's hard to cut. My old grass is much easier

I just laid 550 square yards of zoysia in my back yard nearly 2 weeks ago. I also had 54 cubic yards of topsoil hauled in. Been watering it twice a day also.
There is no way I can mow it now. The topsoil and watering has made the yard very soft just to walk in it. It will become safe to walk on it once I start cutting back on the watering in a few days.
I am not worried about mowing it. I will do that when I feel it is safe. My main concern is getting the sod established right now. If the grass gets long then it gets long.
Also, I have been told to not fertilize or use weed killer until next growing season.
