Just ordered a catalytic converter skid plate update at the end of thread

This morning at my office pieces of shite came in and stole the catalytic converters off a couple of guys in the parking lot. Both were Land Cruisers (I own a new Tundra).
To help protect my catalytic converters I ordered a skid plate that covers them. Was $325 3/16 powder coated steel.
hoping that will help deter anyone.
Anyone with experience on these?
The guy with the older Land Cruiser, is going to cost $3300 I think I heard him say.

Never had one but it seems like money well spent. I hate thieves!

Yeah the CC on my 80 is pretty exposed. I may consider this plate.
What is your vehicle for which you bought the cover?

I have a Tundra also and have been thinking about this. Do you have a link for where you bought it?

Is it bolt on ? Just asking . If so , they can remove it as well.
I just looked. That will slow them down for sure .

I put one on my Tundra last year after getting them stolen in Houston. Trust me it is well worth the money with the hassle with waiting for parts (months!) and paying your deductible. The install is pretty easy. They will come with a special bolt and wrench. The company I ordered from has never had a cat stolen after install.
Most Toyota dealerships will have them in stock if you dont want to wait for yours.

Victory 4x4
4 bolts fasten it to the frame.
the 2 that are already in the back of the factory skid plate and two in the back that go through the transmission cross member

wont make any difference at all, they will just cut the exhaust pipe where its not covered and yank it all out.
you are not ever gonna stop a POS with a cordless sawzall after your converter

That’s the thing. This and the front skid plate will cover it all. No way to cut it unless they get these plates off.

I think you can slow him down which might be a deterrence. My four CCs were stolen last year in Houston. I have a Tundra. Put on a plate and so far so good.

Even if it is, get a shop to put a couple of tack welds on the bolts after it's in...

I ordered mine from talon garage. I priced around and checked availability and went with them. Bc thefts are so high you might find there’s a delay in getting the plate. I got the full shield. It arrived in just a few days to my house and I paid someone about $100 to install it. So far so good. I know it’s not impervious, nothing is. It’s thick aluminum and not steel.
I was annoyed that insurance paid for the CC replacement (OEM not available!! So many thefts there was a 3 month delay!) but refused to give a discount for the plate. I mean, it could save them money. Oh well.

And then what if he wants to do some work on it?

Wouldn't insurance pay (minus the deductible)?

Yes, and insurance is going to pay for it, but it’s going to be a pain in the arse for a few weeks until the parts get in and for the time it will take and has already taken.
But I think he said he has a $500 deductible
