Ohface, one thing that would make that boat ride 10X better would be to add a gill bracket to the transom.
Speed wise, you should be getting closer to 58-60 mph WOT with a lite load.

We looked into putting one on the back ourselves. Would have required a lot more cutting and welding than we wanted to. I don't really believe it would have helped that much anyway. Talked with a guy the other day with a 26 foot gravois. Two etec 200s on it. Very similar to mine and he was getting the same stuff that I will be getting when I change the props. Plus we used a thicker aluminum than Gravois uses so we are heavier than most aluminum boats.

Great job on the remodel. Why did you use aluminum for the t-top? I like that idea instead of having to replace canvas every few years.Do you know the cost? Is it welded all the way around or just tacked?

I'm definitely having you down this summer, just a matter of finding a few days I have off that we can go.
And with regards to the t-top, we put 5 inch welde every 4 inches or so around the outside then came back to the inside bars and tacked it everywhere. Doesn't rattle a single bit yet. I am heading offshore this weekend so we will get a better idea of how well it will work.

Nice boat! Who made the hull and is that Hope Services in Dulac?

We made the hull and yes Hope Services.

Gotcha. I worked 5 yrs for the Naval Architect that designed the towboats Hope has been building. Been down there several times. I now work for my family's ship yard in Houma. I have been contemplating building something similar or just buying a used fiberglass rig ready to fish. Peter Viguerie at Intracoastal Iron Works also has a damn nice aluminum center console design.

So I assume you knew Richard Miles that use to own Hope?
I really enjoy the way this boat rides offshore plus it's easier to work on than a fiberglass boat. The only thing about building your own is to make sure you use a thicker aluminum plate than sheet aluminum. 20 years now and we haven't had to repair the hull one time. Plus we hae blasted it three times and the UT testing is the same as it was in 94.

I probably met him a few times but old Lou used to come into the office most of the time. A well built aluminum hull will outlast any production fiberglass boat that is for sure. If you use 1/4" on the bottom and sides the damn thing will be near indestructible. Great looking rig and i like the color choice as well. Did yall have to float the hull and sand or did you just blast and paint?

I still think that a 30" gill bracket would change the ride for the better in choppy seas. By having one, it puts the props in clean water in choppy seas.
If you know the dealer that y'all got the motors from good, ask him to try a few different props. Also, load the boat down as y'all normally do when testing. Pick a avg day offshore to test. 2'-4' seas would be good.
Oh, also by adding a gill bracket, y'all could of closed off the transom all the way. 10X better in bad seas.

How think was the sheet of aluminium yall used?
What brand noise absorbent paint?
Thanks for the info. I am trying to figure out the cost on doing something like that.
