Looking at both in the 115 HP range and wondered if anyone on the OB has experience with both brands and which they prefer? Looking at price, durability and performance comparisons. I have test driven both and Have no strong preference to either so far. Waiting on pricing for the JD as their sales guy was out yesterday but the new Kubota is in the low to mid $60’s

I have never owned a tractor so any good advice is appreciated.

TIA

All tractors break down, which dealership has the most reliable/convenient service center for you?

Both are good machines. I am a current Kubota owner so it gets my vote. Have owned JDs in the past and they were good machines. Also agree that having a good servicing dealer near you is the most important thing.

Plans for the tractor are mainly for bush hogging, discing and spraying. I will need to disc about 200 acres, cut about 250 acres and spray about 640 acres.

Looking at a 12 batwing, 15 foot pull behind disc and a spray rig to purchase with the tractor. Looking at 4x4 with cab and air.

Both have service centers within 25 miles of me and the Kubota dealership is only 5 miles away.

5 miles for parts would do it for me.

Both are good machines. I would go kubota based on a dealer 5 miles away. Since ur allready spending that much money, do yourself a favor and get the loader added with bucket for 6k i think. You will thank me later, even if you dont think you need it, makes lifting things around the farm a breeze

Good advice, he will use the front end loader more than his spray rig

Only thing I can add is Kabota was notorious for having A/C issues and over heating. Not sure if those issues have been addressed on new ones

On a tractor that large, I would go with the John Deere. It sounds like you are doing some legit farming with the tractor and in that application, I would go with the JD every time. I find the kubotas to be my choice on smaller units that are used for heavy gardening, opening water drains, etc.

I have a 2015 M9960. 100hp I think. Zero issues so far. I use it for mowing, baling hay and general use.

I just went through the exact same thing, ended up with the Kubota M6s 111. Every knowledgeable person I talked to said to stay away from any of the new green tractors. Spoke with some big farmers in Illinois who also said to go Kubota on “small tractors like that”, and they had all John Deer. So far I could not be happier. Main use is bush hogging about 200 acres of crp land with 15 foot batwing.

Also, ended up getting it in Brookhaven MS, best price and service that I found. Talk to Justin.

I’m looking at the M6 111 S as well as the JD 5110. To be honest the JD seemed kind of flimsey on some of the plastic hood cover and parts where Kubota is made of sheet metal. I’d like to pick your brain if you don’t mind in the Kubota.

Sure. Will be out for a while, but will answer any questions I can when I get back.

I've spent limited time on kubota tractors and a whole lot on john deers old and new. I'm a deere fan. I've always found them most comfortable and user friendly.

Also, if you didn’t already know, make sure you are looking at the M series, and not the E series on the John Deere. But I still liked the Kubota better.

That's a lot of tractor for someone that's never owned one. What are your needs for the tractor?

Have you looked at Mahindra?
