Looks like I was misinformed.

You're right. With supply chains set up like they are these days you never have a clue where your stuff really comes from

Martini, what brands do you consider good for bat Wings? Someone told me some JD equipment is not interchangeable with other universal brands. A good example was the JD bucket on the front end loader will only fit on a JD. They said JD boxes you in to buy only JD accessories. Is this correct?

I’m an orange tractor guy. I have a MX5100 and it’s been a great machine.
Check out Woods brand mowers. It’s a quality product with a good reputation and made in America.

he farm tractors are of course huge rigs with massive tires up to 4 per axle and 300+ HP. Wondering if the heavy work is best left to the JD while kubota May be a good mid range tractor

Very good observation, as part of my job I work for a lot of farmers and ranchers. Most use JD or Case for the big row crop stuff, and use a Kabota for smaller/utility stuff.

I still would echo what’s already been said in that priority wise I’d rank:

1) dealership location
2) price
3) features/extras
4) brand name

Both JD and Kubota will make a good tractor in the size you are wanting, I even know guys driving New Holland for their mid sized tractors that seem to like them, have also heard Mahindras are good for the price, but I don’t have any experience with those.

if you buy the Kubota (like you should), look at the Woods Batwings. They've got a couple of new offerings. My woods mowers have always been solid.

Go drive around your area and look at whatever farms are nearby, those people are working equipment for a living and can not afford to screw around, use whatever they are using.

wonder if that has anything to do with the financing offered by those particular mfgs?

Either way is good. Probably pay a little more for the green paint. Trade in value more on the green. Seeing more big farmers going from JD to Kubota. Kubota has come a long way in the last 10 years. Either way make sure dealership has good dependable service repairman cause "things" will go wrong even with a new one.

What kind of mower did you get with you M6_111S? I’m looking at a Bush Hog and Woods.

I have a 15 foot bush hog, not sure of the of the model #, but’s it’s one of the heaviest ones they make. It’s a beast with 10 year warranty on the gearboxes.

I’m not going to lie. I harrowed 5 acres in 2 hours with a 12’ harrow and it took two passes to get the dirt cleaned up. It’s going to take you a lot of time to harrow 200 acres. I’d advise you to get a big enough tractor to pull a 15+ foot harrow. I don’t know what a 115 horse tractor is rated to pull. My tractor is a 95 horse and I had to go pretty slow to maintain traction. John Deere is king in SWGA. We have a Kubota dealer in Albany, but they are a very small compared to JD.

Bush hog is the industry standard for a reason. We have a 3815 with thousands of acres cut on it.

Looking at a 12 batwing, 15 foot pull behind disc

If cost isn’t a constraint, you can drag a bigger batwing easy with a 115. A couple of feet make a big difference over 100s of acres.

I ended up getting the Kubota M6S-111 with a 15’ Bushhog batwing mower. It has 115 Motor HP with 95 HP at PTO. They delivered Friday and we did some cutting over the weekend. They didn’t set up the bush hog when delivered and it’s riding too low in the front, compared to the back. Will try to get them out to adjust this week, but we were able to make some small adjustments with the limited tools we had. By the way, they offered 0% financing for 60 months, so I rolled with it.

Thanks for all the input guys! Much appreciated. Now I need to get these ponds drained, dried out and disced, along with a lot of mowing.
