I’d look harder at the JD 6 M series for that application. Or if you can find a used 6430.

I will have to check into the AC issues. That would be brutal in a cab with no air

Youre doing this work once, or multiple times per year? You ever disced 200 acres? Once would take forever with a 15' disc.

Yeah, it’s a lot of tractor, but it’s a lot of land and want something that is big enough to do the job, without taking too much time. A 30 or 40 HP won’t be able to mow or disc all of the acreage mentioned earlier without spending 2-3 times the amount of time.

oh dont take it the wrong way. I was just sayin you are going all out for your first tractor!!!Im jealous.

And to answer your original question, deere and kubota both make quality tractors. I own a kubota and have enjoyed it. Family has deere and they have been great. I would just go with whatever has the best deal. Cant go wrong with either.

I have disced many an acre with a old 4640 and 16ft disc in the past.

OP you are at the the point of looking at AG equipment not garden tractors and JD is the industry leader for good reason.

Go drive around your area and look at whatever farms are nearby, those people are working equipment for a living and can not afford to screw around, use whatever they are using.

This is not a knock on Kubota, I have a L4701 and love it but for the heavy work all my equipment is green.

I’d get a bigger batwing. At least 15’ probably not a 20 but get a good one.

I wouldn't be scared of an e series. They're significantly cheaper than the M, and then M is probably just assembled here out of Indian parts anyway

I would look at an older used tractor due to the tier IV emissions. I hate the newer package that requires DEF for a tractor to run. This website shows what is tier 2, 3, 3 interim, or 4. Tier 2 is where you would want to be IMHO.

Good points Cave, and I have noticed that most of the farmers in the MS Delta are almost exclusively JD owners while I see a lot of tractors being used by the State for road cutting are Kubota. Also, I see lots of Kubota on golf courses. The farm tractors are of course huge rigs with massive tires up to 4 per axle and 300+ HP. Wondering if the heavy work is best left to the JD while kubota May be a good mid range tractor?

I have read that a good bit of the JD’s are made in India which is a big negative for me.

I think the M series is built in Georgia (the state).

A quick google search revealed M6's are assembled in Japan, M7's are assembled in France.

Who the heck knows were they are "made", just like everything else it seems.

Mahindra

A person I know has had a nightmare of a time with his. I think it was around a 35hp so not in same class as what OP is looking at but thing brand new was a POS. Constant electrical problems and dealer warranty "help" was terrible. This is only one instance but it's enough to scare me away from them. Dude went and bought a comparable Kubota and as far as I know the Mahindra now just sits.

Deere is a very good customer of mine and I was at their headquarters a couple of months ago.

With Kubota being 5 miles away I’d pick that.
