While it may have the externals of the Python, I doubt it'll have the smooth action of the Python. It will be quite a coup if they can really reproduce the Python for $700. I'm not familiar w/ Pietta, but I'll admit I don't keep track of Italian gun makers. Wonder what else they make?

I'm sure it will just be a cosmetic replica.

I think they make good stuff IIRC. One of my buddies has a nice single action but I can't remember if it's a porta or uberti

Pietta makes numerous reproductions of 'Old West' guns.

President of the company is saying internals will be the same design as Colt.

Will they also hand fit them as tightly? I'm skeptical about the smoothness of the action.

We won't know until the first models are available for examination.

I doubt it will be as smooth. There's no way they can replicate that and sell for less than a comparable smith model.

I bet it will be nice though. Probably will play 2nd fiddle to smith triggers but I bet it's nicer than a Ruger.

Nice, but I wish Colt would produce a "replica" of the Colt Python.
