Maury county TN Yanahli WMA, climber
Oaks and hickories, spot I've had success before.
23 on the walk in, but I didn't sweat and I feel great now so I must have geared up right. Might sit all day but don't want to have to.

Question for the OB, I just had a buck grunting through the thicket to my left, probably 100 yards away at first. I grunted back and heard him grunt more a good bit closer and running some. Never got him to come out.

What do yall do in that situation? Grunt back a little? Estrus bleat? Rattle? Be quiet?

Area 4, Chipola. 35, 30.06.

Hunting from a ground blind near Darling Creek. Listening to loggers clearing land off in the distance. Had a nice buck cruising on my furthest camera headed towards me, but must have gotten distracted as it hasn’t come in as of yet. If nothing by 930, I am going to go cruising in the ghillie suit and see what happens.

Probably too late now but he was probably harassing a doe and the best move is to get down and try to ambush him. He will stay on that doe ans walk in front of a bus if she does

Leake County, MS
23* when I got in the stand, no wind
Winchester Model 70 in .270

Was still half asleep and snapped to just to see horns disappearing into the woods. Big arse, assume I fricked up a good chance. Doe made a pass about 400 yards away. Hoping for a fat doe or one of the cull bucks with wonky racks.

Good luck guys, planning a long sit today.

Yeah too late now. Never really thought of that. Tried getting him into an opening with no luck. It’s a wall of thicket so I couldn’t see if he was running anything. Just heard grunts and leaves

Had 3 come out. Stood there and stared. Knew something wasn’t right. One was right behind me. Had my bow drawn back and I was standing there for about 3 minutes waiting for them to move for a good shot and my arm was screaming and about to give out.

One behind me knew I was a person blew and ran away causing the others to run away . As I look behind me, I see antlers moving through the woods.

I’m debating on packing my shite and leaving after that. I’m pretty ticked off

Conditions are prime, but I haven’t seen anything. Caught a glimpse of a deer yesterday morning, nothing in the evening, nothing this morning yet. You’d think with the amount of time I spend hunting, I’d be good at it, but man I’m garbage!

Sounds like he was after a doe. Tough to get one to leave her and come investigate, but I’ve done it once. Last year in Missouri one of the biggest bucks I’ve ever seen was chasing 3 does. Ran by at about 50 yards. When they got out to about 100 or so, I let out a loud, deep grunt that stopped him in his tracks. He turned and looked back and I grunted again. He looked at the does trying to decide, so I snort wheezed, followed by a couple grunts. That made up his mind. Came trotting straight to me, ready to whoop some arse. Stopped at 30, I was at full draw but his vitals were covered up. He looked around and then took off back to the does. Coolest shite I’ve ever had go down while hunting, and still fires me up thinking about it.

Cows are better eating than the Bulls. My brother shot one that went 270lbs this weekend and it’s going to be great. Little on the smaller side. Most of the cows we shoot are 320 to 350 lbs. The bulls 375 to 700 ish depending on age.
