Did they take their sticks and leave the set?

Good luck. I think I am going to do a little mid-day hunting today. Probably eat an early lunch and head out. Trying to decide whether to sit in the woods or on a field. Anyone have much success with mid-day hunting?

Killed a 7 point chasing doe at 12:30 (noon) last Saturday.

I'm perched up in a tree stand in a wooded creek bottom with my .30-06 looking for just about any deer. I did see 2 fawns, one with spots fading, last weekend. I'm looking for a little bit bigger than that but doe or buck is a go.
So far I'm wishing I brought my .22 with me. The squirrels are out in force right now.

Feeling a little upset with myself because I planned on coming to this spot this morning and staying back here all day to do some midday scouting. I killed a good buck a few hundreds from here last year and wanted to go look in that area. Ended up sleeping until 11:00. I’ve been in the woods all day since Saturday, I guess I needed to catch up on some sleep.
I’m set up between 2 big thickets, with a lake behind me. Hopefully something will come out of the thickets to feed.

That’s every stand we have. They’re all made out of steel and it’s a bitch putting a roof on/fixing a roof once they’re set. My grandpa has a way of acquiring things, computer chairs and truck bed liners are 2 of the top things he acquired
Some have been up for 15-20 years on these stands that are as old or older. Only thing that’ll take the roof down is a hurricane and you just tie a rope to one and pull it up, tie her down. Easy peasy baw

I hunt in a stand my late uncle built years ago and I'm not sure what the roof is. It's fiberglass and has been up a long time. My best guess is that's it's an old golf cart roof.

Cold as heck this morning
Mathews V3X w/200 grain Tuffhead Evolution 2.0 broadheads
Saddle and platform in a thicket near a lake
I haven't hunted this place since early October, but I'm glad I came back to it. I lost my thermocell last time I hunted here and thought it was gone forever. Nope, it was at the base of my tree. Score! This also means no one else is hunting this spot. Score again!
Around 8:30 I had a tall 6-point walk through, but I'm on my last buck tag and I know there's big ones lurking. 5 minutes after he headed north to the acorns, I finally saw my huge 8-point that I saw when scouting in the Summer. He was 70 yards away heading north between the lake and my spot. I tried to grunt him in, but he just stopped and looked for a second. He was too busy cruising north to that acorn spot to find a doe I think.
I may try to get a morning hunt in tomorrow since the wind will be perfect for me to set up on the trail both he and the 6-point used (before the 6 turned my way and came under me). I marked the tree to use, and I'm hoping it works out for me.

I had to leave right before prime time this evening for an appointment. Saw 5 deer on the ride home. I had more than my fair share of squirrels to choose from but struck out on deer.
