Area 2
50° slight wind out the west
35 whelen(suppressed)

Got off to a rough start. There’s a ditch right off the parking area that wasn’t bad yesterday. Filled my boots up in it this morning. Made for a shitty mile walk in. Thank God for merino wool though.
In my saddle, about 50-60 yards east of some cutover on the private. Winds blowing my scent away from the cutover. Hopefully one will come out onto the public. Looking for a biggin.
Packing up and heading to yancey today. I think the rut is winding down up here.

Update: buck down!

I’m on a field between pines and an old beaver pond. Lots of activity here the last few days.
My son is in a ladder along the creek about 300 yards NE of me.
300 WSM and 35 Remington.

Deer/pig hunt
Amite River swamp
53 degrees, clear skies with 4 mph NW winds
1965 Remington 742 with Redfield Illuminator, loaded with 150 gr ballistic tips.

Feels nice sitting in this swamp, heard something running through the water to my west before daylight. Hoping it was a chase that will eventually pass by me. Good luck to all out this morning!

Pretty nice out
Big Agnes folding chair on pipeline
.338

I want to get my 338 threaded but the barrels so thin I'd probably have to cut it back to 20" to do it.

42 and dreary, no rain but everything is wet. Overcast and almost no wind.

CVA Optima .50 cal in a ladder stand overlooking a food plot that feeds into a game trail.

Good luck everyone!

Avoyelles. Been very slow. Only one trophy taken this season on 2500 acres. 6 hunters here now and very few deer seen. We typically see a doz does and 3-5 bucks per hunt.

Goal was to be here when they move after the weather rolls through. Been watching radar since 330, taking a chance that this last wave skirts north of me. I think I'm good, just a bit drippy and windy so far. Way up a tree so I'll keep checking. I want a doe or two but I'll take a rack. In a spot I have a love hate relationship with because it fits the wind.

First hunt with new 30-30. Irons only
Saddle on the side of a water oak. Water up and I’m in between it and a thicket. Seen one scrape and one rub on the way in.
Looking for any meat bigger than a squirrel.
Beautiful and wet morning.
Good luck fellas

Killed my best buck this year soaking wet sitting in the rain all day near you. He came out at 4pm. Hope you dont have to wait all day. There was plenty of movement before that though. Rain didnt seem to bother em

I appreciate it! I definitely put in the work, and sat with wet feet today, but it’s what I love doing. Thankful it paid off. He’s not my biggest, but I said I was shooting for the wall and I’m sticking to that, so he’s getting caped out.
