My 14 year old is going to a box on a 3 acre green field east of our house. My oldest is making his 1st hunt of the year on a ladder in the oaks near the west fork of the Amite river.

Good luck to you and your boys, 14yr old deer hunting is about as good as a spot in life you can be.

He has it made. My wife homeschools both he and my daughter. He’s in the woods every day at some point and is becoming quite the woodsman. I’m a proud dad.
Good luck to you as well. There were several bucks on our cameras last night as well. They are still together.

Jim Hogg County
.270 Winchester and 12 ga Browning
shite weather, warm, misting rain, and wind howling
Was hoping for a Management buck, everything too young. Not many moving and those I have seen are super skittish. Will take a doe at this point. Trying to decide when to head back across the Sabine. Will hunt down in a bottom this afternoon to see if it’s less windy.

Good luck to all, especially those with their children out. I miss having my boys with me, them adulting has been a tough transition for all of us.

Deep STX, windy as hell, rain off and on.

3006, box blind at intersection of 3 sender's.

This wind is really screwing things up.

As I was typing this up, had 2 nice sized does cross at about 50 yards. Hopefully they’ve got a big boy following.
