Colder than I anticipated
Bow
Not being super selective. Need another deer for the freezer and only a couple more opportunities this year.

Swirling wind burned me earlier. Saw 2 does and a young buck trailing. One of the does definitely winded me. Hoping it gets more steady out of the NNE here shortly.

I just had a solid 8pt at about 40 yards but no shot. One of the better deer I’ve seen all year. Definitely would’ve shot.

Aggravated. I hate bowhunting.

If it was easy, everyone would do it. Could have shot 4 or 5 deer this year with a gun. Instead, all I have is 1 muddy arrow where I shot under one I finally got in bow range. Much more rewarding when you connect though.

Weather is awesome
Summit climber #2
On the edge of a huge slope into a creek bottom and some young pines. Emptied all of my doe urine on the way in. Saw a nice scrape walking in.
Horns or pig.

Caught up to a nice 8pt (for Bedico, La.) around 8am. Finally decided to quit making the easy walk to my little box stand and do some hiking into the cutover and set up. Paid off.
