Still trying to get this buck I’ve seen twice. I moved closer to where he’s been popping out on me. In a pretty small tree in my saddle but I’m up here about 30ft, so hopefully if he comes, he doesn’t look way up here. Looked back through my log book and this is my 59th day in the woods this season. Starting a turnaround tomorrow but I’m going to try to hunt in the morning and make it an even 60 days.
Good luck!

You da man!
Back when I was young and single, I did 37 days in a season and thought that was something. My hats off to you and deserve a state record buck. Wishing you all kinds of good luck.

lol, if A Bear has 59 days then 257 must have 115 days.

Y’all boys give it hell these last few weeks.

That’s a solid season! I’m just obsessed with it lol
I was able to roll over a couple vacation days and stacked them all in November and December. I made a few hunts in October too, but I’m not a fan of the early season.
I’m on nights for this turnaround so I’ll be making as many morning hunts as my body allows. This buck I’m playing cat and mouse with is going to make me hunt when I get off in the mornings.
He came by again this morning. This is the third encounter with him. He slipped by at 40 yards. He stopped once but was behind a couple trees. Then a decent 8pt came trailing at 25 yards. I could’ve tagged out on him but decided to give him a pass. He’ll be a stud if he makes it to next season.

I’m jealous as hell of the amount of time he gets to spend in the woods lol
I’d hunt everyday if I didn’t have work. There was only 1 day in my log book that I didn’t go in the woods when I could have. One of the first days of my Missouri trip I got sick and stayed in bed all day…

I need to start tracking my hunts. Do you keep a log where you keep track of the number of deer seen per hunt/per location? I think that's what I'll do next season. Right now, I just know I have some really good spots, but I haven't documented anything to help with potential patterns.

ETA: I was posting this when you did. Looks like you do keep a log. What info do you write down?

What kind of sticks you carrying in the woods getting up to 30 ft?
Perhaps you do one stick method? Nonetheless good luck

Pawpaw logged all his fishing trips and he was a revolutionary badass at bass fishing.

If nothing else, it's something your heirs will enjoy reading.

I just log the date, morning or evening, location, and what I saw.

4 tethrd one sticks, a 2 step aider on every stick, and I space them so that I have to grab my knee to help reach the aider lol
I hang my platform a couple feet above my top step too. My 30ft bow rope, tied to my saddle, is tight when I stand on my platform.

I lay my fish out on the skinning table, take a picture on Snapchat, put where I caught them, and then save it. That way, it’ll pop up in my memories a year later and I’ll know where they should be biting.

There was recently a thread on the OT where a guy was saying that there are no legitimate reasons for an adult man to have snapchat. This is a pretty legit reason. I'm going to start doing that with deer.

well I’m hoping there won’t be much to do once the plant is down, so my nights should be pretty laid back. There’s no way I could do it after a busy night though. I could when I was younger, but it hurts now lol

I do it with deer sign too. If I find a good rub or scrape, I’ll save it in my Snapchat memories. There’s actually a better way to do it, but I’m used to my method. My buddy showed me a way to add pictures to waypoints on OnX. So when he finds a rub, he drops the waypoint, takes a picture of it and then adds it to that waypoint. He does it with trees he hunts too, so if he can’t find the exact tree he’s planning to hunt in the dark, he pulls up the picture in the waypoint. Pretty smart. I’m just too lazy.

I remember to do that with about half of my pins. It's a huge help on dark mornings.
