All I've come across is 50 different ways you can read a card either by extension or by screen. I want something I can download to and bring home and upload to my laptop. It would be nice if I could view in the field also but not necessary.

I want to get to the point where the SD card stays in the camera and I don't have to bring my laptop.

You can download to your phone and upload to a computer or the cloud.

Do what everyone else on earth does and bring another SD card out into the field and swap them out.

That's what I use when I want to view in the field. Otherwise I just switch them out.

I use this and download them to my phone. I tend to lose my SD cards when I swap them out.

There are a bunch of hard drives that are designed for this purpose as well, it's popular with commercial photographers that take a shite ton of pics and don't want a ton of deal with a ton of cards.

Here is a version from Western Digital.

If you have an Android phone, a lot of those have built in SD card slots you can plug the card into. If you have an iPhone, use one of these and you can copy the files over from the SD card to your phone

2 SD cards for each camera, or use the phone adapter

I have many SD cards but they tend to get lost or fall out of my pockets at inopportune times is why I’m looking for a reader that also downloads.

Yep I have the iPhone adapter and I just import the best to my iPhone and look at all of them on the laptop when I get home. I can’t import all to phone since I don’t have the storage but you can pick out the racks when browsing the small icons during import

ETA: I also swap cards and use this adapter to check while still at the property since I am impatient.

iPhones and newer droids have an adapter. My s9 has 64gb internal memory and a 128gb sd card. Just load them up on the phone and deal with them later.
