Watching a Mexican Cartel Documentary ironically after my dad asked me to go in a couple of months.

On a serious note, I know for a fact the border near El Paso is very frickin dangerous. Technically they aren't that far apart if you think about it.

I work with a large group of people from the "Valley" which are towns like McAllen and Harlingen. Tomorrow I will ask them and give their opinions on here.

I would love to fish Amistad and Falcon, but IDK if it is safe. I wonder about those border lakes. Maybe stay on the US side, but who knows. Maybe someone from that area can chime in.

I don't think it will stay cold long so the spawn will be coming sooner than later, but I might have to test my urge on another piece of property. If you google lake falcon several issues pop up from 2010-2011.

It would be nice to hear from someone who's gone more recently.

Im here now hunting at my wife's family's ranch. We aren't anywhere near El Paso, btw. Laredo, yes. Drove by the edge of the lake earlier and saw several nice bass boats fishing as well as several nice ones at one of the hotels. I know a guy who comes down here every year to fish and has never had a problem. Just stay on the U.S. side and you'll be fine.

I dunno know if someone posted this or I heard it in person, but there is a guide that runs Falcon lake and has steel plates in the boat cause he's been shot at.

I fished it in December and felt as safe as being in lake decade. I will be in amistad for a week beginning tomorrow. I will reprt back but I'm sure it is just as safe.

That is the lake where an American was shot and killed on his jet ski. So yep it is dangerous. As far as lakes go.

If you are an idiot and went on the Mexican side you are taking your life in your hands.

Stay on the American side and you'll be okay.

Is there anything to know? Just launch and fish? Better to get a guide, bring your own boat?

Don't need to go down there. Don't tell me not to speak asshat. Is Lake Falcon and Falcon Lake the same place? Jet skiers were shot at and one killed at Falcon Lake 2 years ago.

I believe they were morons and went across to sight see.

if its the show about the couple on the jet ski, dont let that stop you. that story stinks like skunk piss. if there are others out then there shouldn't be much worry. know your surroundings and obey the laws. just don't be too close to the border lookin over at mexican activity with optics.
