Long story short, my dad is building a new camp in Yazoo County by Sartartia. He's looking to add some internet capabilities to watch sports.

He's thought about getting a mobile hotspot but his internet through Verizon on his phone is spotty at best.

Any ideas?

Check with C-Spire. They also have hotspots.

Is it in the Delta or hills? The Delta will probably not be a problem, but it’s going to be hairy in the hills.

You can also look into those mobile dish network things.

Brother has C-Spire and his internet out there is not or miss, too.

The area is about 25 miles Northwest of Jackson, so not really the Delta or hills.

The community is actually called Phoenix.

Yeah, you’re probably going to have to see what the deal is with those Dish Network things that people use. There’s not going to be another decent option as far as hot spots go in that area.

Most of the camps around Delta National that I’ve been to use Dish Network. As far as internet, C Spire works better than anything else down in that area.

Oh yeah, I’m from Yazoo City and have spent a lot of time around Satartia. Phoenix is considered the hills, and is quite desolate for cell service. Pretty good hunting down there for the most part though.

Hunted in Phoenix for years.

Your only real option for Internet is Hughesnet. It’s expensive

Hotspot is not gonna happen. I wouldn’t waste your time. Service carrier really doesn’t matter.

We had a cheap direct TV setup to watch games but internet and cell service we gave up on.

Did a technician come out to set it up? His concern is the amount of trees surrounding the camp house and the signal not going through.

No. We had one of the old school receivers that still worked and spent about 4 hours playing with it on the satellite calibration screens until we got a good signal. We did have an unobstructed view of the south sky though.

That worked for a few years until Directv realized we had a receiver in a second location and cut it off. Then we had to pay the extra fee.

If it’s still there, ride over to coaches store to watch a game. No football this year, anyway.

Get a cell booster (about 3-400$) and use data, made all the difference in the world for us

How did Directv know that? I have one directv account for my house and have had receivers at two other locations for 10+ years. None of the receivers are connected to the internet.

We have satellite internet at the lake. Had to mount it to a huge pole and the signal is less than ideal, but we're able to connect. See if a tech thinks you'll be able to get a signal at your camp

It had something to do with the equipment at our house. We couldn’t upgrade the system at our house without making the receiver at the other location obsolete. The little card that you insert was involved in that somehow also I don’t remember the specifics

A H24 or HR24 receiver will work at your camp on the even the most update directv system. Call them up and tell them you need one for tailgating and you will be back in business at your camp on the house account.

What did you purchase for this? I tried one and had no noticeable difference, but reviews were spotty.
