go check out the knowledge that is floating, (no pun intended) on the flood board.

Did you know that a top a tree that has been almost completely submerged in water could stop a barge?

I can't link it cause I'm on my phone, but hot damn...

First glance I thought Copperhead because of the color and design. But on closer inspection I think you can rule out Rat Snake. It's too thick.

It's either a water snake or a cottonmouth and from the size of the body and the way the tail gets stubby, I'd guess cottonmouth. Also he seems to be floating in spots and that's a sure sign of a cottonmouth. They bob like a cork.

Water Moc. Banded water snakes have some black bands generally or more colorful than that

Don't rule out copperhead although it doesn't look bright enough.

Definitely a cottonmouth. When younger, they have they bands like that. as they age, they tend to just turn black.

Interesting side note for those that live on the MS River.

The FDA is requiring hospitals here in Memphis to stock up on Cotton Mouth anti-venom due to the flooding. Speculation is that backwash from the river tributaries are pushing these snakes into more residential areas. Just something to keep in mind for those that may be affected by the high river.

Snakes it's not:
1. Cottonmouth,
2. Copperhead.

Snakes it may be:
1. Banded water snake,
2. Broad banded water snake.
