I bought mine from a gunstore, but Academy has them even cheaper. I toss mine around and never had any problems. It even comes with the 22 mag cylinder. Never shot those yet cause the 22 long rings my ears. First time I shot it, I thought it blew up in my face cause it was so loud.

My dad has both of those options and both are great guns. The mag cylinder is loud, but I never really noticed much out of the LR.

I have a Browning Buckmark that I've had for many years and love it.
Looking at a ruger 22/45 with rails and a threaded barrel, new product not out just yet.

The mark III with a target barrel is a great gun and fun to shoot. I absolutely love mine! It is also very accurate for factory .22 pistol. '
The only issue is break down and reassembly. If you watch the youtube videos by ruger it isnt that big a deal.

Both sweet guns. I like the single six better.

My dad has a Colt like the Ruger. .22 mag is fun as hell to shoot.
I also have a Mk II. Mine has the 6+" barrel, same weight as bull barrel but longer sight radius.
I would pick the revolver if I had to choose.
ETA: you need to use ear protection when shooting any handgun or shotgun & most rifles.
You can shoot 22 shorts in the revolver & they are very quiet, not much louder than an air rifle. My neighbor shoots squirrels with one (in a subdivision).

I have and love both. My kids shoot both too. The single six may be a little better teaching kids how to shoot.

They make a 9 shot revolver
I've got an early 50's J.C. Higgins .22 revolver that my wife's grandfather gave me. It's got a 9 shot cylinder. I am mildly dangerous to anything I am shooting with it.

I was wondering if anyone else was going to mention the Walther P22!!!
That's what I'm looking at.
Pros and cons??
Since it is so much smaller.....does it give on accuracy?

The most important of the three things you mentioned is teaching the kids.
YMMV, of course, but in my experience, revolvers make better "trainers" than semiautos -- it's easier for kids and adult newbies to learn the elements of safe gunhandling with a revolver.
And for newbs, I think DA's are better than SA's, partly because DA's are easier to UNload, and it's a little easier to VERIFY that EVERY chamber is empty.
Once the kids become accustomed to safe gunhandling, you can "allow" them to "graduate" to a semiauto -- which gives you an excuse to buy another gun . . . or two. . .

There is a conversion kit for The Judge

I had a couple of back-to-back serial # single six's but with longer barrels than the one you pictured. They were great to shoot but I also had a gun very similar to that Mark III that was a blast to shoot.
It was a Colt Woodsman Match Target.
I'd give anything to get my hands on one of those again.
