Br is not that bad. Yes I go out if town every weekend but living here gives me options. The coast is 2 hours away, Nola is 1. The beach is 4-5 hours. Life is pretty good ALL around here.

That's a huge fricker. No camera trick, it's resting on the ice chest lid

That's kinda what I thought. The lack of trees threw me off. It was thickly wooded last I was there decades ago.

Lighthouse obviously got a facelift...looks really nice. Great pic!

Besides crime caused by democrats, urban infrastructure and the often hurricane, what else is so bad?

I'm not trying to derail your thread or rustle your jimmies, I'm just curious...

Crime and traffic are the main 2. Add in the fact that I can't launch my boat and go fishing anywhere around there is another reason. Other than going to bars (which I'm not too much of a fan of), there aint shite to do outside of LSU sports

I'd equate poor urban infrastructure=bad traffic

But, crime is everywhere. I blame it mostly on drugs, public launches can be installed.. but shite, right now, (outside of the temperature/humidity/climate), I'd give anything to be back in La..

Take where I currently live/grew up, it is probably one of the worst places,to live in the country,(i have stats to back that up), the county in WV that borders us, (mcdowell county), is probably the worst place to live in America.

Here is the proof, a couple years ago a friend of mine did wa doing his thesis on poverty rates in WV, he told me that in 2011.. 93% of McDowell county was living on some sort of govt assistance. 64% was totally dependent upon the govt, I shite you not. And the # of households totally dependent soon govt has grown to about 68%.

Hell, give my Livingston parish any day of the week..

To be 100% honest, I feel safer in New Orleans than BR. Mainly because the crime in NO is for the most part, isolated. Whereas BR the crime is very close to common college areas; all around LSU campus. Brightside, tigerland, north gates, all bad crime (robberies/break ins).

Thats here nor there though. Don't want to turn this into a bash BR thread. So happy I live in the wonderful Northshore community where you talk about crime and its the local high school kids egging a house.

Even for all its shortcoming, I'd rather live here than anywhere else in the world.

When I retire I'll spend my remaining days on the water or in the woods.

Baton Rouge crime doesn't really bother me. I live in probably the best area of the city and I'm not affected by it at all. It's just old to me and I want some new scenery.

Have thought of getting a place down there many times. Looking at ya'lls pics and hearing the stories makes me want to even more. As much as I love the woods and the water here, it'd be nice to be right there in the Gulf.
