In louisiana, it is perfectly legal to plant a crop, leave it standing and flood the crop, as long as you dont harvest any of it. And you cant physically knock any of the crop down, but it pretty much falls into the water anyway

heard USFWS is coming down on folks that are "knocking down" standing crops with ATVs....

you can't buffalo it around your blind. I know that for a fact. My best friend got a federal citation for that and he hired an attorney to fight it. He was arguing that he put out decoys with the 4 wheeler that is what knocked it down. the judge said it didn't matter how it got down, it was down and that was illegal.

That is why one lite chops it before flooding.

The single best thing I have seen.....

peanut field on one side - flooded with JUST sheet water.. ducks could walk in it..

other side.. was sunflower flooded to about 18 inches....

better than baiting...

Youve' seen ducks get in sunflowers before? Not doubting you, just never seen it myself other than teal getting in a sunflowr field planted for doves after a big rain.

Just to clear the air, I dont' blame the yanks for flooding standing corn and shooting the shite out the mallards, because its legal. I just dont' believe the practice of planting food for ducks and leaving it all in the field is a common ag practice and therefor should be illegal. If everyone in south LA would do something like this with millet or other cheaper crop they would do better than they do in their crawfish pond where theres no reason for a duck to go

Got to remember normal agricultural practices. If it's not harvested and you breath on a crop and it falls, pretty much baited at that point.

I got an idea for you. Quit bitching and feed like we all do. I don't know above these fools with thousands of acres of private land to hunt but down here in South East Louisiana anyone who kills ducks consistently feeds. Its part of the game. It's the same in North Louisiana too. Just very few have the nuts to admit it.

I'm surprised more people don't get caught baiting in the marsh. It's funny to watch birds act like they do in OP, flush and go right back down.

Anyone who thinks that people who consistently pound birds do not feed are fricktards. There are exceptions, but they are VERY few and far between.

Right, it is the exception. It just amazes me the people who think that someone has a "magic spot" when really they just have the nuts to put out the one thing ducks can't resist: whole corn.

If you hunt with some buddies that kill a lot you might want to keep it that way and not ask why you kill so much when you hunt with them.
