I don't keep my personal protection guns in a safe (mossberg and the 686) but the ruger was in its box out on my desk because I took it to the range the other day and hadn't had a chance yet to clean it

This fellow was busted in my house at around 11am. Like I said his gf lives a couple of streets over and he walks over sometimes

Anyway, this morning I find out that a contractor on a job on my street had his work truck looted at around 10am yesterday. Just an hour before this dude came through my window. All of his tools are stolen

Well according to the other thread, you should be publicly shamed and held liable for any actions the thief may take using your guns.

Yeah I saw that

They were definitely hidden which let's me know for sure it was an inside job

Only someone who has been there and seen them would know, especially since nothing else was taken or disturbed.

It's obsurd in my opinion...

"Hey you, law abiding citizen, you shouldn't have allowed that thief to commit that crime leading to him committing more crimes with stolen possessions of yours."

That's not at all what's being said in the other thread.

UPDATE!!!!

The suspect text me said he needed to talk to me

He called me and admitted to it and said "I can get your guns back."

Said the dopeman has them and he will do what he needs to do to get them back. I told him he better not rob peter to pay paul, and he was like "believe me I thought of that, but I am just about at rock bottom. I can't continue this way or I'm going to be a loser for the rest of my life"

So, he is working to get them back but I told him I can't do shite until I see results

Even then, I doubt the cops are going to cut him slack at all just because he returned them. Guns is a felony situation

How is loser going to pay the hundreds, possibly thousand, of dollars to get the guns back? I'd send the police after them.

But good news that you know where they are. Just need to get them back before they move into someone else's hands.

I wouldn't cut the POS any slack if you get everything back. He'll just think it's ok and do it again

Give him like 2 hours and then tell him you'll call the cops. Also get him to text you his confession.

To an extent, yes. But I'm sure he has other guns and it's on record that OP's guns were stolen so there will be no legal ramification for him.

That being said, I would not cut the guy slack. He is just saying those things to stay out of the pen. He has a serious drug dependency issue obviously, he needs help.

Lets say crime is committed with guns and then given back, all without the police being informed that he knew where the guns were and how he got them back. Its not going to be a good day if said crime is linked to the guns, even though he informed them from the beginning.

UPDATE!!!!

Just send the cops, the guy stole from you. Don't believe one bit of his bull shite.

People like that will tell one lie after another if they think it will help themselves in any way.

I don't think a victim of armed robbery is gonna be like, "hold up dog, let me write that serial number down before I give you my wallet."

I doubt he got more than a couple hundred worth of dope for all three. Thieves trade your stuff for almost nothing. I've been unfortunate enough to deal with someone in my family who was doing this to support a crack habit. Literally a few hundred dollars for a nice truck, $20 for some $500 dollar rod and reel combos, etc...
I'm like you though, not sure how he will get any money to get them back if he had to steal in the beginning, but he prob has someone enabling him.

KB, glad you got him to admit and are working to get them back.
