believe there is an age limit for that though (at least in Alabama, not sure about TN).

I understand his agrument and know a lot of guys that own large enough tracts to hunt on who do not buy a license.
But if he is LOUISIANA And over 60 I think he qualifies for a $5 a year license that covers everything. Now maybe he’s just totally opposed to having to pay money for any kind of government issued license but if it the money that’s the squabble, $5.00 is pretty cheap for basic hunting, deer, turkey, fishing and everything.

Correct, in that even if you own land, you must be a “resident” of the state to hunt on your own land w/o a license. Many people overlook the “resident” requirement.

You are missing the point of what “resident” and ‘domicile” means. You must be “domiciled” in Mississippi to hunt your own land w/o a license. Just owning land does NOT qualify. A resident is not the same as being domiciled there as you can have multiple residences but only 1 domicile.

I think the thought on this is that the deer are a public resource and not “owned” by each landowner.

Correction that fee pays for Mr Green jeans to tell you what you can and can't harvest on your own property.

As a landowner in Ga I’m not required to have a hunting license to hunt deer on my property.

Georgia landowners don’t have to have a license as long as they are hunting their own property.

You can buy your kids a lifetime MS if both parents were born in MS, but currently live out of state.

the deer shot on public land may have originally come from a piece of private land a few miles away that owner pays property taxes on

That's where I am currently.

Live in TN and have land in MS. I have a lifetime license but my son does not. It's almost $500 per year for him to hunt our land.
It's bullshite.

I was born in TN and his mom in MS. If we were both born in MS my son (even though he was born in TN) I could have bought him a MS lifetime license.
