I wish I had an easy place to hunt. I killed a buck last weekend but had to:

wake up at 2am
1.5 hour drive
1/2 hour boat ride
paddle to my spot
Walk 1/4 mile through the marsh
shoot a deer with the bow
drag a 180lb buck 1/4 mile back to the boat
put it in pirogue and paddle back to boat
1/2 hour boat ride
etc.

I need an easier spot to hunt.

I may go next week.

Look man, I honestly couldn't care less about that part which is why I haven't mentioned it. I'm only here to ask questions, start constructive arguments, and understand you people.

Faster, better electronics, more reliable, better live wells, etc.

Ice Machine, comfort, park your boat underneath, hose and everything there. Fish cleaning table, freezers, less travel time, no launching.

Need I go on?

34 and Bourg--Ya'll coming to NOLA this weekend?

Not at all. +Many have stated that they experienced all these things, and still do, but they think this all bullshite.

Meh, my dad was not a hunter, but we spent lots of time hiking and fishing in similar situations. I still hunt like you did, getting up at 3-4am, driving to the refuge, walking two miles to a stand location in the dark with my API on my back, old MQ1 in hand. Then have to drag out whatever i kill b/c the refuges don't allow 4 wheelers everywhere. On the rare occasions where i get a bid to a lease, i still hunt out of the same climber, just get to bring the 4 wheeler close if i kill.

Until you know how long it takes to fill up my viking, or heat up my box stand, don't tell me how easy it is.

Count me among the "they". I'll leave it to others to do the water walking and judging. We need more outdoorsmen, not less. If it's more comfortable for a kid now than how Teague had it when he was a kid, then so be it.

Sometimes after a long arse rabbit hunt or paddling in the yak all day with one fish to show for, I tell myself...I'm gonna take a break from this for a while. Then later that night I want to go back the next day.

I killed my first deer sitting on the ground against a tree freezing my balls off with a 12 gauge loaded with buckshot.

I do not however do my hunting with a falcon. The few times a year I hunt now are in a box stand on some family land.

Really? What part of it?

wearing the rib cage out lost me, unless you drug it across a Walmart Parking lot.

Oh, and the overstatement of the frozen temps. It gets super cold like twice a year. And we have all been cold.

shite, I agree. Its 100x easier to hunt today then it was in the 90's. I sure in the hell don't miss loading my dad's bay boat with 2 pirogues, decoys, ice chest and hunting gear to go to the house boat. Then when It came time to hunt. We would anchor out in the bay and paddle to our ponds.
