Do they still offer hunter safety courses that tell young people to never keep a loaded gun in the house and keep ammunition separate from the gun under lock and key?

That's what we were taught and we were even tested on it. You flunked the test if you didn't know that. Or have the gun nuts taken over hunter safety courses?

What exactly do you think the "Gun Nuts" would teach in a Hunter Safety class?

Yes, and in Texas every hunter (not just residents) born after 71 has to have a hunter safety card on their person.

Hunter safety and gun safety. Everyone should go to one. I also think everyone should take a concealed carry course

Most states have a state agency run the course if in person. Some states allow an online course, while others require an actual in person shooting test.

My kid turns 12 this year and he’ll be taking the course, I haven’t decided if it will be online or in person as the in person locations are over an hour away.

Well you’re obviously fishing so telling you you’re wrong is nothing new, but you absolutely have loaded guns in the house. Precisely your main self defense weapon.

The teach this for your hunting rifles and shotguns. Still do.

If you have a weapon for home defense that is unloaded and you keep the ammo separate from it, you now own an expensive paper weight.

That’s not a gun nut perspective. To be afraid of it is a dumbass perspective.

None of my guns are loaded inside the house. Kick the door open to prove me wrong.

Actually not a false statement. I learned more from my dad than the course.

I know I am old when I am not required to have a hunter safety course although I did get it in 7th grade in school.
