Enjoying my coffee and watching them this morning. Got about a half dozen fighting over the feeder. They are fun to watch.

They were out in force in Breckenridge, CO, at the start of August. One got stuck in our garage Friday for 2 hours, wore itself out. Finally perched up high, my wife reached the broom up, it hopped on there, and it let her walk it out. I think it was just dead tired by then. Flew to the closest tree and hung out, hopefully it didn't die later from exhaustion.

Up to 6 feeders now, and just had our first Baltimore Oriole of the late Summer. Time to put oranges and grape jelly out.

I had three hummers for most of the summer, but the latest cool spell doubled that amount. I have three feeders plus two honeysuckle bushes that they are fighting for all the time.

It's really going on now in CENLA. Making 2 quarts per day. Up to 6 birds on one feeder at a time now that chasing has slowed.

Numbers have dropped drastically today in N MS. Sunday my busiest feeder used 36 ounces. Today maybe 12-18 ounces by night fall. Low tonight is 55 degrees.

Yesterday was the best day ever in SW Mississippi. I have 8 feeders, I would estimate I had 70 to 80 birds. they are definitely migrating. Today maybe 30 or 40 birds.

East of ATL, today a retarded one got trapped in my garage. I left the door open so it could get out, an hour later it was still in there, hovering around by the ceiling. At one point it hung upside down like a bat on the truss that holds up the garage door. It sat there for at least 20 minutes. My wife had enough and tried chasing it out with a broom, no luck. Went and checked later, it isn't hovering around so it either found its way out or dropped dead somewhere in the garage.

The feeder on the back porch has three different females that fight over it. I haven't seen a male this year.

This is why I never leave my garage door open. Birds try the highest route out, and that doesn't work.

This one was in a panic trying to find her way out of my garage. She was so worn out she want panting. Held her for a few minutes. Pretty cool

Looking like we may be past peak. The morning flurry wasn't as busy today.

It's hard to estimate how many I've got - at least 4 per feeder on 4 feeders, but that's just the minimum.

Very good migration day at the local birding hotspot. 3 Blackburnian Warblers with around 10 total migrating warbler species. That cool front pushed a lot of birds south, including some Blue-winged Teal. From historical records the hummingbirds should be good for another 3 weeks or so.

Buntings and yellowthroats are abundant along the back of my property. Zzzzt calls everywhere. Now starts the season of a lawn chair and binoculars down on the bayou bank.

I was just telling a guy that works for me the other day that I hadn’t seen a bunting in a while.

Crazy how at this time of the year it seems like the hummingbirds stop fighting as much. Is it because they get accustomed to other birds, they are migrating or something else that has evolved over generations? Could be all 3 combined and other things

For my set ups, it's a combination of feeders and bird numbers. There's just too many birds for fighting to be effective.
