I’ll document one for you....I tell you what, I won’t say it was a black panther...it was a cat looking animal that was black in color, had a body approximately 2.5’ long with a black tail In comparable length to the body quartering to me in a crouched position until my head crested the bank, this animal then turned, staying close to the ground and ran straight away from me. I’ve seen more bobcats than the avg man has and I know it wasn’t a bobcat....especially with a huge tail like that....I’m willing to entertain other names, just a black panther was all I could surmise....

No pics, no care.

Might as well say you saw bigfoot.

It’s hard to climb a bank, shite your pants and take a picture with a camera you don’t have....I don’t blame anyone for not believing me, I didn’t beleive my own eyes....but I tell you what, ask anyone who hunted wild turkey hunting club in the late 90’s and you’ll find a whole bunch of guys who have all seen the large tailed black cats that may or may not be black panthers....I know what I saw....I’d really rather not see another to be frankly honest

You can call it Bigfoot, a ghost, the Easter bunny or the tooth fairy because that's what it's equivalent to. Could a black panther exist somewhere hidden in our country? I mean I guess there's stranger things we don't know about. It's just that it's NEVER been documented. That means out of ALL the pictures across the country of Florida panthers, there's not even 1 legit photo of a black Florida panther. So ALL them coonasses with trail cameras on their hunting properties, and no one can manage to get a picture of a black Florida panther. You may have seen a Florida panther. Maybe it was covered in mud because it just came out of a swamp. But I can almost guarantee it was not melanistic. No one else in your hunting club saw one that was melanistic either. Hell, the odds of 2 people in your hunting club seeing a regular colored panther on separate occasions, is extremely rare.

hear some crazy animal sounds in the night, but nothing like a woman crying.

I have never heard a woman crying sound. But I have heard a loud scream screech that no animal in Louisiana makes.

I would take it seriously. We have them in Florida. Also, Texas has them, and it isn't a stretch to figure that they would wander into Louisiana. The wild game population is large in Louisiana, and with habitat destruction increasing with all the building and clearing going on, Louisiana still offers a lot of habitat possibilities.

Not saying that its not a possibility but the handful of bears to wonder to this area of the state have been cery well documented. There were no bears in the area 5yrs or more before or after when these sightings happened and when we found the claw marks. Lastly the fella I know who saw one, on that same property in Waldheim that he owns, saw it in clear morning through a spotting scope at around 400yrds for around a half a minute. Not the typical running across a road at midnight sighting.

My Dad was born in Bush and my Mom's side lived in Waldheim. That was a long time ago.

Raccoons, red foxes, and bobcats can make a sound many people would say is a “black panther.”

This guy gets it. My Pops who is an avid hunter said he saw one when on the edge if Honey island swamp when he was a young man. I believe him because he wouldn't lie to me about it. He believes the same as you posted. That they are only moving through the area as they travel from state to state along the coast. Probably for breeding of I had to guess.

saw one back in the 90's in Tallisheek on our hunting property crossing maghee warner road ...our property was just across the W Pearl navigation canal from the Bogue Chitto Wildlife Refuge...couldn't mistake that brownish grey coat and what looked like a 3' long tail...long bodied and muscular.

for anyone knowing the area our property bordered "Cajun"

I've seen 2 big cats . Cougars / mountain lions whatever , The first was on the levee north of Three Rivers in the Black hawk area . We drove up from my friends camp while supper was cooking to check out any deer but none were to be seen . Then a big cat ran up the levee and stopped for a split second on the road then ran down in the bean field across from the river . All those times that we had gone in way before daylight and frogged all night . I always look up ahead of me now . The second was the craziest thing that ever happened anytime to me . Ive posted on the second encounter . A lot of people see them around here now because the deer are so over populated.

We had small 100 acre lease north of Greensvburg, LA. many years ago. Bow hunting early afternoon and squirrels begin to bark crazy loud. Began looking for a deer possibly sneaking through but was shocked to see a large cat moving slowly through the trees. When I saw it, I knew exactly what it was. Coloring very close to that of a deer but stride was unmistakeable of a cat. 30 yards away and watched it move quickly from tree to tree and pause and twitch its tail each time. Definitely on the prowl in full stalking mode. If I had to guess it was probably 50lbs. Watched it for a good 3-4 minutes before it disappeared. Told my buddy and his dad when we got back to camp that night and no one believed me. 2 days later my buddy saw it again in a nearby stand sneaking down the dry creek bed. We hunted that lease for another 5 years and never saw again.

We now have twice as many personal sightings in this thread as there are actual confirmed sightings in the last 20 years. Bunch of badass hunters in here. And we are only on page 3!
